Gigabyte GA-7N400 PRO

Hi,
I have got a new Gigabyte GA-7N400 PRO motherboard and I have also got an Athlon XP 2800 Barton Core from my other machine. The problem is whenever I place this CPU into the motherboard the machine will power up for about 10 seconds then just switch it self off. This happens regardless of if there is any RAM or a graphics card in there. If I put in a lesser CPU like my Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz the machione boots fine. Will a BIOS upgrade crack it? Please can someone help.

Zaf,
check the following:
The cpu socket is rotated 90degrees, alot of people dont realize this and put their hs on backwards, check and make sure that the hs ledge and the cpu socket ledge line up.

Did you plug in the 12v, 4 pin power connector?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have tried what you suggested to no avail. Do u think a BIOS flash will do the job?

Not likely on the bios flash, by the way what bios are you running.
secondary to that what does the label on your power supply say the output is for the 12v,5v and 3v wattages are?

In fact go ahead and list your full system specs will make it easier.
