What's the difference between the Deluxe version of this mobo and the regular version? Anyone know?

anyone tried a mobile p4 or some p4 which is capaple of high overclocks ... cos the 166fsb limit is not enticing really... means not even a chance at 800fsb cpus

lan, IDE RAID, SATA, dual bios and the Ultra2 also adds the dual power system(DPS) and gigabit lan.
Atleast that is what I have noticed.

Ok, so I got P4 2.44b GHZ Northwood and 2xCorsair 512 DDR 400 PC 3200 sticks, and I am going to get a 128 MB Radeon 9500 Pro. Do you think I will have a lot of performance difference between the deluxe and the regular version? Because there is more than $100 price difference, and since my CPU doesn't suppor HyperThreading, do you think getting the deluxe version makes much of a difference for me?

Thanks.

If you have no interest in the added features I would
say save your money and your board may come with
BO stepping, their is also a BIOS flash as well if
you eventually want HT support.

You have peaked my interest, Who has them up and running?

And can you lock the PCI/AGP Bus frequency?

Also there is hw monitoring on this right?

Can't remember from Evan's review.

Oakenfold, I just got the GA-8SQ800 yesterday and to answer your question, yes hw monitoring is available. I set up MBM last night to show, CPU Speed, CPU Volts, CPU Temp, CPU Fan Speed and my +12 lead. I disabled the rest of sensors because I have no need for them.

My current board doesn't have it, I never even thought that would NOT be available on a mobo....

How do you like it?

Hey guys, I ordered mine yesterday afternoon and supposed to be here tomorrow by noon via FedEx

Well I have never put a computer together myself... so I am just curious, what type of documentation is included in retail mobo boxes? Any documentation that will help me put the thing together?

Thanks.

So does this board play nice with Radeon 9xxx video cards? Evan's review here used the Geforce card.

I'm using an FIC Radeon 9700 Pro in mine and it works great. Running AGP8x with fast writes.

Cool, glad to hear it. I won't get a chance to install mine until Saturday but it is
good to see that your 9700 is playing nicely @ 8X. Keep us posted.

Bad news for me...

I got the board (8SQ800) two days ago... along with 2 sticks of brand new Corsair Low Latency DDR 400 256MB RAM, new ATI Radeon 9500, new WD 120GB SE. That's pretty much my setup... and it booted fine, installed WinXP and Service Pack fine.. Then, it started to slow down (almost to a halt) and reboot itself.... and it became very difficult to get it to boot correctly... In fact, last night it would freeze up in the BIOS menu!! But it's not doing that today... Just rebooting itself every now and then..... Swapping the power supply didn't help... I've tried a Sparkle 300W and an Enhance 460W... same thing...

I'm swapping out the Corsairs with my roommate's Crucial DDR266, and replacing the video card with a radeon 9700 pro, a GeForce2, a GeForce3, or a GeForce4.... Going to have a lot of things to try.... I'm not sure what wrong... but I will report back here if I figure anything out....

Anyone have any insights? I'd appreciate anything....

Sorry to hear your troubles. I just got my board today from Newegg as well. I'm running 2x 512mb Corsair XMS3200C2 dual just fine. I just got everything installed. Winxp, etc. Running fine on an Antec 430W Trupower ps. I updated to the F4 bios and the only problem I have noticed is that whenever I enable "Top Performance", my system would not post and the only way out was to clear the cmos. I also experienced this when I flashed from F3 to F4.

I'm beginning to start testing... I've kept the motherboard, CPU, HD the same... I replaced the Radeon with a GeForce2, and the Corsair DDR400s with one stick of Crucial DDR266. Everything went smoothly.... Now, I've replaced the Radeon, added a network card, and everything is okay so far as well.... I hope so.... gotta use the computer a bit more to be sure before I start adding/replacing more parts. Last night, it worked fine for a LONG time before acting all crazy....

So, I'll be putting in an SB Live (disabled onboard sound).... testing..... then, when everything is okay... I'll try to put the Corsairs back in and we'll see..... My Corsairs are now in my roommate's computer running at DDR266..... and they're doing fine....

Back to work! Can't believe it's almost 2am already!

No... Not OC'ing at all... I wanted to get the system up and stable before touching anything... BIOS settings are at default... except for minor things like boot order, on-board AC'97 disabled. No timing/voltage settings were touched!

Well.. I finished my testing last night (early this morning) around 5am.... I had everything working fine with two sticks of Crucial DDR266. When I swapped in my Corsair DDR400's, it ran okay too! I was playing around with drivers/updates for 20-mins.... then I decided to install a game to excercise the cpu/gpu a bit... I installed Generals... and that ran well... But after a while, it reseted itself again!!!! Went to bed right after that... going to try more testing tonight after work... but I'm getting pretty tired from lack of sleep.

So, here are a few observations/questions:

-When the random resets occurs, I hear the hard drive click, as if right after a power-on.... normally, when a computer performs a soft reset (start->shutdown->reset), you don't hear the initial click from the hard drive, right? With this observation, I'm assuming that somehow, the power supply has caused the reset by not supplying enough power?? A sudden cutoff in power?

-How much current does a P4 and Radeon 9500 draw??? I'm using an Enhance 430W?? power supply.... are these any good?! I have a Sparkle 300W, but I thought that may not be enough... I may swap it out.... but I'll probably buy an enermax or something in the 500W range. Stopping by Fry's after work and getting the best (or close to the best) PS I can find....

-Anyone with problems/success with these (or similar) parts? I assume they're a pretty common combination: P4 2.4B, Gigabyte 8qs800, Corsair, 2 sticks of Corsair CMX256A-3200 XMS3202v1.1 (256MB/DDR400) running in dual channel (128-bit) mode, Sapphire Radeon 9500, Western Digital 120GB Special Edition, Lite-on 48x12x48 CD-R.

Waitaminute!

I just ran into this! Prometheus from Asusboards.com said:

"... the chipset recognizes my Corsair Low-Latency as 400 and sets mem to 400 - a bit of a pleasant surprise. However, the timings on -Latency SPD may be slightly too agressive at DDR400 for this chipset. I was experiencing some random blue-screens at DDR400 until I went into Memory Timings and set manual and 2-2-2-6-1. Perhaps a little more voltage would also fix this - we can use the wider vDimm adjustment range in BigToe's BIOS mod."

could this be it though!? Hmmmmm........

Yes ken, that's probably the problem..... my GeIL won't run at detected speeds even with +.3v....... I'm gonna have to hard mod the board because both chips will reach 444ddr with enough voltage. BTW, what are your rails....... if you don't know, check EZTUNE or download MBM and set it up.

Radelon:

When you say "won't run," do you mean that the system does not boot? or just unstable? If unstable, does it do random resets? or just BSOD? The first night, mine resets even before loading the OS!! Random lockups and resets occured when I was trying to navigate the BIOS menu!!! And this happens after being on for a half-hour or so... maybe the RAM is just barely working at the detected default timings, and heat just pushes it over the edge?

About the valtages, I looked, but didn't notice anything special, so I didn't note them.... I'll have to check when I get home afterwork... or after I get back from Fry's...

Hi, Is anyone having these problems with the GA-8SQ800:
[*]Will only run in DMA Mode 5 even though I have a Maxtor ATA133 drive and ATA133 cables
[*]Under Controlpanel/device manager/mycomputer its says ACPI Uniprocessor but ACPI still appears to be disabled because there is no option for standby or an option to enable it under power settings and ACPI is enabled in bios

Other than these 2 problems it runs great I am running a 2.4b and 2 sticks of kingston hyperx ram. Any suggestions on fixing these problems would be greatly appreciated. I did update the bios already.
