All clocks on my system are stock.
Bios F1
I have a athlon64 3200 2GHz, stock heatsink/fan.
Idle temps are around 38C.
Load temp is around 44C.

I would like to try that bios, to see if I can get it to run 3dmark03 stable.

WOW see that?s what I was getting with the new bios that they sent me which is why I am even questioning this point.

Did you use the stock grease that came with the heatsink from AMD or clean and put new stuff?? I would like to see if your readings change for temperature when you use the new Bios.

Post me an e-mail address that you don?t care about everyone seeing and I will send it to you!

I have an a64 3200 2ghz (c0 revision) idles around 38-40C, load varies, max about 52
using bios rev f2b at the moment. Seems more stable than F1 overall

(and yes I'm using the stock thermal gunk and stock heatsink)

Well finally got my system and it's up and running...

I'm using the C3200PRO memory from Corsair .. The XMS series... Corsairs web site states this mem should run at 2.5-3-3-7 but it's running by default at 2-3-3-7. I havent touched any settings and so far the board is working very well.

Check out this link for my CPU-Z current settings:

http://www.troyandtina.com/pc

The system with in question is called Aztec Sunset

Heh and don't laugh at my system names... they are named after my greyhounds who have passed away =)

Damn and I am sure you all have the versions with the heat spreader lid so it should be no different then mine. Well either my cal sucks or my chip is running hotter then it?s supposed to be which doesn?t make me to happy. Thanks for your feedback and I welcome any other feedback this matter. As it stands now I may have to look a bit further into this issue?.

Yea I was planning on that but my thermal grease tube is old im gonna get a new tube first. Thanks for the suggestion though it is good to hear im not the only one who has had a problem with the grease they applied at the factory.

Ok, i've started to play w/ overclocking. Basically i've upped the CPU frequency from 200 to 220, making my overall speed 2200mhz. I've left the voltage at stock for now and i'll do some stress testing at this setting. My memory frequeny increased as well as the HTT frequency is 220 now as well. Is there any problem with running the HTT at 220x4?

Hey all,

I am new to the forums.

I recently purchased the GA-K8NS Pro and an Athlon 64 3000+. I am also having problems with the board as far as what temp readings I am getting, etc....

With F1 and F2b BIOS I get around 62c idle and up to 70c under load. I also emailed tech support and got BIOS rev. F2d and it showed significantly less temp readings in BIOS. I too could not get the Easytune tabs to come up with F2d, etc..... I did download a 3rd party program to read the temps with the F2d BIOS in windows (since easytune4 wouldnt pop up the tab to show them) and it still had an awfully high temp reading on one of the sensors, which seemed to be the same sensor as the CPU temp sensor. What revision bios did they give you MrSamson420?

I am interested to see what knightofnee gets with a diff BIOS revision than F1 or F2 since he was getting a lower reading with those already......

I also bought a nice copper thermaltake fan and it did not seem to phase the temps a bit between it and the stock fan with F1 and F2b bios revisions...... I tried reapplying the thermal paste and even reseating the heatsink...... I hope this problem gets figured out soon, as I do really like this board...

I thought about RMAing this board to Newegg and seeing if I could get the GA-K8NSNXP since its in stock now....they did not have it when I ordered the GA-K8NS Pro a couple weeks ago....

Anyway enough of my ramblings........

Later,
Brandon

I also got the F2d Bios version and it did reduce my temperatures significantly but I am still not sure if it is right. The reason why I say this is because they may not have entered the calibration coefficients because this is a non release version of the bois, which may be why they aren?t allowing it to report the temperatures to Easytune. Because they didn?t tell me I am not sure what to make of this change and is the main reason why I started asking people here what temperatures they were getting. If the majority of people in this forum are getting reasonable temperatures with similar setups then it probably isn?t the Bios. It would help if you would post how low the F2d Bios lowered your temps. For me I dropped about 10C on average.

The unreleased version of this Bios is F2d and is being provided by Gigabyte tech support.

And yes the memory speeds do stick in F2d (The bios doesn?t yell at you when you save it them off)

Well, after trying the f2d bios, I am able to boot my ram at 200mhz with cas 2.5-cas 3.0 timings.

The bad thing is, my chashing has gotten worse with the new bios, no matter what setting I try on my ram, I ether have windows freezing or 3dmark crashing.

With the new bios over the f2b and the f1, it shows my temp as 30c.
The temp doesnt move, so I think its busted with the new bios.

Looks, like Im going to get rid of this board and go with the Asus K8V,I would go for the new msi board, but I dont want to run into the same memory problem.

You sure you want to run a "beta" version of the Bios ?? I'm sure Giga will offically release a new bios shortly... I just don't wanna run the change of having to start over on this build. The only think I can tell that is not optimal for me is the memory speed. It's running at 166mhz.

So I run these apps to get a CPU temp:

Sandra reports it as 36*C http://www.troyandtina.com/pc/Aztec%20Sunset/sandratemp.JPG

Easytune4 reports it as 45*C http://www.troyandtina.com/pc/Aztec%20Sunset/easytune4temp.JPG

and the Bios reports it as 51*C

So I don't know what to beleive... What does AMD state as normal range of operating Temps for this CPU?
NOTE: this is bios F1

I get similar results. My CPU temp reading in Sandra is 39C but my reading in both Easytune and Motherboard monitor are both 51C. I haven't seen anything from AMD stating what the nominal die temperature for this chip is and I have looked many different datasheets.
