so far...f3a seems pretty good. mem clock stays at 200, multipliers work now, and temp readings are 44C (from 54C) in the bios. Seems stable so far...but I'll need to do a few benchmarks and stuff. Hopefully gigabyte releases a final version soon.

edit:
can't change frequency in bios...but it does in easytune. also, the other buttons in easy tune doesn't work (cpu temp, etc)....but i don't think it has been working on any of the other betas either.

does anyone else have trouble with the cool n quiet function? i seem to keep locking up if i leave it to idle...(installed AMD's chip drivers, set power management, and turned on CPU smart fan in bios)...

plus, what sort of memory settings do you all have in the BIOS? and what is your SuperPI results? (my AMD 64 3000+ only gets 48secs for 1M, is that low?)... i'm using F2d, i can't seem to set my memory at CAS 2.5 without the bios freezing on me, but i am able to get the 200mhz to "stick".... what is the HT setting? I'm currently using X4... if I use X5 it seems to be unstable...

(I'm such a newbie at newer motherboards and chipsets... I got this motherboard and chip without much research(grand opening sale at Chicago Fry's) Thanks

I got cool and quiet to work stable in bios F1, with cpu at 2200, ram at 183. dropped my temp about 7C. Using CnQ on F3a right now too. Seems stable...but I just installed the bios so I won't really know yet.

It seems Cool'n Quiet doesn't work with the mutiplier selection in the bios.
Without CnQ, the mutiplier can be lowered and it sticks, but with CnQ enabled, the mutiplier returns to the default.
Anyone running MBM3.70 along with CnQ? The don't seem to get along well.

CnQ crashed my comp when i tried to run a few games. Worked fine with it off. So I guess F3a isn't working with CnQ too well.

I've been using my GA-K8NS Pro for the last 2 months and haven't noticed that memory speed problem. I just upgraded to the 7/6/04 F2 bios release. I used SiSoftware Sandra for a test and realized the memory bus speed was at 333 MHz.

I'm using two 512Mb sticks of Pc3200 and was annoyed that the speed wasn't 400Mhz according to Sandra. I can't seem to find any memory speed adjustments from within the Bios? ** Am I correct ??

I took a look at that EasyTune... but to be honest... a software OCing tool scares the crap out of me!

I read that F2d or F3a allow you to go in and change the memory speed from within the bios without EasyTune? (Hit Ctrl-F1 or something)

Is there hope for an F3 final release to fix the memory speed issue?

Just follow my directions for setting you memclock speed to 200 in the bios... and yea, hit Alt+F1

What does ALT+F1 do? did you mean CTRL+F1?

Also a F2 bios is now up at the Gigabyte site:

What is your +5V rail reading of the mobo?
According to MBM, mine is only 3.18V. My understanding of +5V rail is that it's critical for AGP/Video card power. I'm havinig problems running Condition Zero. During the game play, there were several occations of gaming freezing for 3-4 seconds and other times the game crashed and the display turned to black.

I'm using the newly posted F2 bios (7/6/04).
Neither Alt-F1 nor Ctrl-F1 seem to do anything... i've tried it from within the bios boot screen, and from within the actual bios menu after hitting delete.

Must I be using the F2d or F3a bios for this memory clock speed adjustment screen to come up?

Erehwon... what bios rev. are you running?

Link: How is your 5V rail looking? I rma'd my mb because I was getting down to 1.3V or something like that. Maybe it was the bios? Are your settings sticking even on a cold startup?

When I looked at MBM setting, the 5V rail sensor wasn't configured right.
I manually had to set it to GA-8KNXP to make it right.
Right now the 5V rail fluctuate around 5.7~3.4V. Very unstable if you ask me.

Yes, the settings stick even on a cold boot. Right now it's set at 9.5x235 instead of 10x230 so that the memory can run above 200mhz.

The only problem I'm having though is that Condition Zero frequently freezes for about 3-4 seconds during game play, and I can't find the cause for that. I also played Call of Duty, but that one didn't show the same problem. Very odd.

BuLLiTT... were you running the official F2 release posted, because I am.

I hit ctrl-F1 and tried to set the memory speed manually to 200 MHz... however... when i rebooted, I heard 2 beeps (which means there's a CMOS error)... and when i benchmarked the RAM speed... it was obvious that the speed change didn't take (it resetted it to the 166 MHz default).

Has anybody using official F2 actually been able to hold down 200MHz into windows?

Hi Guys, im a bit new to this, and ive read through the many pages, but its still a little confusing!

With the f1 bios, easytune gave me the fan speeds and cpu temp, but reported the cpu temp to be 58-60 degrees! the bios only reported it to be 39 degrees... much better! Which is right?

i updated to the official F2 bios as available on the website. the bios still reports a reasonable cpu temp of 39-40 degrees, but now easytune wont display the side tabs with fan speed and temps, etc. I know others have had this issue. also i downloaded the easytune update but the issue remains... is there a fix?

as soon as i am happy that my cpu is a nice temp, im going to have a go at this overclocking stuff!

F2 bios running perfectly now....after testing many different settings....
9.5 x 230 @ default voltage (won't go over 230 at default voltage)
HT4
Memory @ 166 = 191mhz
Cool n quiet is enabled
Cpu temp = 40c (and that is with seti running 100% cpu load)
Sisoftware sandra shows cpu as PR3480
Rock stable after many hours of gaming and running seti 24/7
Can only get the memory running at 200mhz if running 10 x 200
but won't stay there long....comp freezes up
