Question for ya Jayl: Are you leaving the 3700 EB you have at stock speed or OC'ing to DDR450 or beyond?

I actually allways run my EB 1:1. So for now I am running 10x230MHz@1.4V because the weather is so hot right now. So the mem is running @230MHz@2.7V@3-2-2-7.
Usually my settings are 10x240MHz@1.55V and mem@240MHz@3-3-2-8.

But my problem is a bit that this MB can only give 2.7V from bios to mem and actually it´s 2.75V. So that means that I can´t run those EB´s low latency. But anyway they run great even with so little volts. Meaning 250MHz@3-3-2-7@2.7V or even 265MHz@3-3-2-8@2.75V...

Well.. I uploaded it and so far I dont see any changes in the bios it self. but I have'nt tried OC'ing any further yet. with the last bios f3a at 250 fsb it kept corrupting my XP install. and that was with the memory at 166 instead of 1:1

Hi there,

Right now i have a
AMD64 3200+ (2.2Ghz) New Castle
Giel Dual Ram DDR400 (2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.7V) Stable
Antec Case 1080 Plus has 3 fans
Albatron 6800GT

Now i want to hit 2.3Ghz with stock cooling, for some reason i just cant seem to get it, i am pretty sure from what people say 1:1 should be fine if you plan to go to 2.3, most people go 2.45ghz, i dont want that much i just want 2.3ghz on my stock hsf.

I use ClockGen and CPU-Z to get info SystemFan 4.14 for details about temps CNC is OFF (God that thing is kinda shit)

Ok first off, prime test is fine on the current setting i left it for about 6 hours and i had no problems, i knew then its fine....i have no idea how long this thing goes but i cant stay that long away from the PC :/.

So i set off to reach my 2.3ghz goal.

I tried 210HTT 1:1 Prime test fails, aquamark runs fine....but prime test fails, so back to sq1, 205 seems to work fine but i am not intrested in 205, i tried setting the voltage to 1.6 on 210 and it still dosent wanna go gives me a "should be .4 etc)

If i am not mistaken from reading some peoples comments

Most people have managed to get 220x11 1:1, now that is nice and all but i want 210x11 1:1.

Would someone like to help me out? I tried other forums but they dont want to help me, its rather frustrating when people dont help each otther out in a forum for o/c, they just ignore me :/.

So what am i doing wrong? Should i go in the bios and do it? Is my ram timing too tight? even for 210?

Thanks,
Any info appreciated.

PS: Forgot to mention i am running F2 Bios Windows XP SP1 DX 9c...GT at stock speeds, i wanna get my cpu up and and notch the card a wee little bit, i wanna tweak my system a wee bit from all ends thus giving me a nice boost overall, i am happy with a wee bit, not intrested in mega o/c...2.45 sounds nice but i am happy 2.3.

PS2: I tried Bios, i set to 210, and go into windows ( I first did what someone said earlier, 201/67/11, restart, and its saved, even after cold boot ), so once i am in windows i use cpu-z to get info, sure enuf its done, now i load up prime test, @ 1.5V it does last sometime, i say 30 seconds (with clockgen in windows it dosent last 5 seconds..intresting), i get a error saying something like .454543453 should be .4, so i set the voltage of cpu to 1.55, no sucess, 1.6...no sucess, tried 1.55 with memory on 166, no sucess, i tried mem at 166(2.5-4-4-8), no sucess, this was all via bios.

Am i doing something wrong? Would someone like to guide me to get my self to 2.3ghz? Thanks.

I´ll try to help you killer007...

I am almost certain that I know what is your problem. Have you heard about the Hypertransport rate? well anyway there is a multiplier setting in the bios. That multiplier is 5x,4x,3x,2x or 1x. I suppose it is set at 5x or 4x. Am I right?
Ok, I am trying to explain this because I don´t know how much you know about computers or A64 systems. So I mean no harm if you already know this. So the Hypertransport rate maximum at NF3 250 chipset is 1000MHz (NF3 150=800MHz). If I am correct your HTT multip might be 5x or 4x. So you multiplie the "FSB" for example 4x210MHz=840MHz. The maximum is 1000MHz but even if it´s 600MHz there is not very much performance loss if it is set lower, so don´t worry about that. And when you try hitting higher and higher "FSB" these MBs don´t like it when it´s near that 1000MHz...

So set that multiplier 4x or 3x and then try to OC again. If I was wrong, we have to figure out something else....

check these out...

There's something funny about F4a's memory setting. It looks the same in the bios, but when I ran the Sandra memory bench it said 170% efficiency
I also ran Prime95 for about 30 minutes. Usually, Prime95 stops with an error within 30 seconds if there's some kind of problem, but it ran fine.
Next I decided to run CZ, and that's when a problem showed up. Steam couldn't finish initiating!
So now I'm back to F2 and everything is fine.

Ok , So after PLaying around some more with F4a I found that the Temp/voltage reading in easytune now work again . They where broken for me in bios F2 & F3A. thats a Plus.
As far as issues with steam goes... last night they where updating steam again and many people reported having issues. I tried it around 11:00 Pm pst and it worked just fine for me .
so maybe you where caught up in the middle of the typical steam updating fiasco? .

I found a weird memory issue / workaround for the 2 sticks @ 400 problem.
after much time spent messing and tweaking I tried a solution that worked for me .

with everything at default in bios, boot the system with only 1 stick in dimm 1 then go into the
bios and it should be set to ddr200 change it from auto and force it to 200 and reboot .
then go back in to the bios and set the timmings to manual without changing anything.
also the bottom option for command 2t make sure its disabled.
then save / exit + powerdown ,next instert your 2nd stick into dimm 2 and thats all she wrote .
it took care of all my stupid crash problems plus I can now OC my ram from 200 to 230 no prob.
this worked in bios f2,f3a & f4a

P.S. I know it sounds wierd but it worked for me . and if you push the OC to far u will need to repeat the above steps to get it workign again. I tried this 5 times now so I am positive that was my issue.

Just installed the f4a bios myself dosen't seem to be much difference from F3a apart from a language option. Also I have no issue's with my memory running @ 400 either with the F2 F3a or the F4a bios. I have two 512mb sticks of Corsair PC3200LL v1.1 which have a default timing of 2-2-2-6 @ 400 but with this motherboard @ 400 it set's it at 2-4-2-6 doesn't really bother me as everything is running stable and I've not really noticed anything difference between both timings.

Yeah i read about what HTT is pretty much what FSB has been replaced by...well thats what i am guessing.

Anyway by default its set to 4x in the BIOS. Now wouldnt lowering that cause less perfermance in the overall system?

What is LDT multiplier, where exactly is it located in the bios because every where i read people said put that down to 2.5x or 2x, are they reffering to the multiplier as in HTT?

Hello!

I bought Gigabyte K8NS PRO mobo and Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2GHz, 512Kb L2) Processor stepping is CG and it is Newcastle of course.

Here is my system details:
Athlon 64 3200+ (stock cooler)
Gigabyte K8NS PRO (non-modded)
2*512Mb Kingston valueram cl 2.5
Radeon 9800PRO

First booted my system up with only one memory stick installed. Default mem freq was 200MHz and everythin was fine. Then I added another 512Mb stick and default mem freq was only 166MHz. Bios number was F1, then I tried F2 bios and default mem freq was automatically 200MHz with 2*512Mb sticks. Well, system works perfectly and it is prime95 stable at FSB/MEM 1:1

Here is sreenshot:

Sorry my bad english, I'm from Finland, I hope you can understand...

does it fix the temperature problems AND the memory problems at the same time? hopefully this is the case!

why do they keep releasing bios's that have such major flaws in them, like the freezing at the 2T Timing thing and various other sections!!?

Has someone tried burn an ISO image on a CDR with this mobo?
The reasone why I'm asking this is that I've wasted 7 blank CDRs trying to burn a bootable WinXP SP2 slipstream CD. After buring an image Nero found whole bunch of errors while verifying the burn. The original and burned file sizes were found different, and the disk was not bootable.
I first thought this was due to nForice IDE SW and reverted to MS IDE SW, but that wasn't it. Then I set the cpu and memory back to default (not overclocked) in the bios, and that still didn't fix the problem.
Before I had this mobo and A64, I had P4-2.4C overclock to 3.2Ghz on Abit IS7. All the bootable images I made with the previous system are fine.

By the way, I have F2 bios.

Do you have the cpu driver from AMD installed and CnQ is running?

I've never had any problems burning anything. Burnt cds/dvds with CnQ on and off, OC on and off, and all bios versions. Also, CPU driver installed and before it installed. I don't think the mobo is the problem. What program are you using? Or it could be the CDs/burner combo that's giving you problems.

Does F3 bios have anything else fixed except updated Sempron code? Is it even worth trying to use?

I believe I had a similar problem with burning cdrs. Updating ASPI seemed to fix the problem. Download at Adaptec.

Darn it! I found the cause of the problem. It was my Plextor CDRW drive. I took it out and plugged in an old TDK drive, and it didn't show the same problem. It was able to burn a WinXP SP2 slipstream cd without an error. The drive is slow but at least it's working.
