I havent been around the forums for a long time. And its been a while since I upgraded my machines. FINALLY I got around to it. I put in a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC MB, Athlon 64 3500+ and 1 GB OCZ DDR400. I have a 60GB maxtor (7200 RPM) drive with just Windows XP Pro on it and a maxtor 250 GB (7200 RPM) drive in as slave. I am running an ATI Radeon X800 video card.

My 3d Mark scores seem a bit low compared to others. Can someone help me tweak this MB, PLEASE.

What should I set the FSB, etc to.

Any help is appreciated.

There is no FSB... Either there is the memory bust, or the HT bus..

Is that 1 or 2 memory stick?

Gigabyte likes to hide the memory settings. Try hitting "cntl-f1" at the same time while in the bios, and see if a new section appears. I use case 2.5, with 2t command rate (if provided). The other settings that work for me are 3-3-6.

I put the memory in the same colored slots. Is there a BIOS setting for dual channel RAM?

On POST it shows Dual Channel.

In the BIOS my RAM settings are DDR 400, CAS 2.5, Min Ras# (TRAS) 8T, Ras # to Cas delay (TRCD) 4T, Row Precharge (TRP) 4T, Row to Row Delay (TRRD) 2T, Row Cycle Time (TRC) 12T, Row Refresh Cycle Time (TRFC) 14T, Read-to-Write Time (TRWT) 4T, Write Recovery (TWR) 2 Bus Clock, Write to Read Delay (TWTR) 2 Bus Clock, Refresh Rate (TREF) 200 Mhz 7.8 us, Read Preamble Velue 5.5 ns, Async Latency Value 7 ns.

The AGP Clock is set at 66Mhz.

Thanks

Anyone?

Can anyone help me tweak things and can anyone explain what all the alphabet soup means with my ram settings?

Thanks

The next 3 settings you listed after cas 2.5 could be 6-3-3. Just be sure you know where the cmos jumper is in case your system won't post. Cas 2 is also possible with some brands of memory, but may be less stable. The most important setting is the fsb. If you can get it to run at 200, you'll notice the difference. Generally, when I try overclocking, I lower the memory fsb to 166 and raise the cpu fsb to 250. The LTD setting should be lowered to 800, if your board has the option.

BumP:
I might be able to help. I just set up the NForce 3 version of that board K8NS939 AGP version. Great board I must say but a little weak on the OC features such as voltage control.
Be sure your memory reports 128bits wide in the BIOS not 64 that one way to know. The other is CPUZ which will tell you all the details. Also note a number of people, including myself OC these things. My 3000 is running at 2250Mhz with a pair of GeIL Golden Dragons. I've reached 3DMark 5746 with an ATI 9550 non oced card. I don't yet know how low that number is. SISoft Sandra reports the memory bandwidth at 5.320MBs which is lower than the 6.3 to 7.2 I'm used to seeing on NF4 boards. One problem I see is that the memory is running CMD2 where all my others are CMD1.
