If you're running a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R please tell us what memory you're using, and how it's working.

THANKS

DDR3 MEM isnt really available.

Thats why "people" are getting the Updated board. (look below.)

I'm not talking about the DDR3 board. I said the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R, not the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R.

I'm using 4gigs, but I'm running 32bit XP at the moment. Its that super cheap HP RAM thats listed over in Hot Deals with the D9hnl chips on it. Currently running it at 375mhz completely stable with Orthos blend and Memtest86+ not giving any errors in the 7 and half hours I ran it. 5-6-6-17 timings according to CPU-Z with the motherboard set to AUTO timings. I was previously running the RAM at 388, 5-5-5-15...but I got errors in Orthos blend after a while despite the computer seeming stable otherwise. I still have some tweaking and testing to do, I just wanted to get a basic completely stable setup first and then go from there.

Edit: Now at 375, 5-5-5-15 stable...still more testing and tweaking to do....

I am using 4 x 1GB sticks of Geil pc2-6400, although right now I can not remember if I am running at 667MHz or 800MHz, but I am running at 4-4-4-12.

Will have a look when I get home, but so far it is very stable.

I've had a bit more time to mess with my RAM, and running 4x1gb of this D9hnl on my DS3R board doesn't seem to work well for overclocking. 350mhz 5-5-5-15 works, but both 388, 400, and 401 (only 3 I tried) wouldn't run at 5-5-5-15 or even the more relaxed timings set when using AUTO settings for the timings (5-6-6-18 @ 400mhz if i remember correctly). Giving more voltage to the RAM, FSB, and northbridge didn't help any. After taking out 2 sticks, I'm running at 400mhz, 5-5-5-15. I'm only 20 minutes into Orthos blend right now, but before it'd just reboot my computer as soon as I started testing. I'll give another update if anyone is interested.

I am running 2 gigs of this ram. Because of the 9x multiplier on my e4300 I run it at 668mhz at 4-4-4-12. This ram works great with this board. The nice thing though is that this ram is highly OC'able so it leaves me room for a future upgrade with maybe a lower multiplier cpu.

For a second there I thought you had some REALLY fast memory speed going, then I realized you were talking about its effective speed instead of its actual speed I wish I could run a speed around what your RAM is running to get better timings, but my multiplier is 8x so that wouldn't make for a very good CPU speed.

Had a look last night, and am running 4-4-4-12 at 800MHz. It's stable running day to day stuff, but I have not as yet run an orthos test for a lengthy time.

I know if I run only 2 sticks of these I can have them running over 900MHz at 5-5-5-15, but not really tried pushing it with the 4 sticks yet. Not sure there is any need really.

The ram is rated at an EFFECTIVE speed of 800mhz with 4-4-4-12 timings. I have heard of people OC'ing this ram at these timings as well...somewhere around 440mhz actual.

Your RAM is definitely better than the stuff I got....but I picked it up super cheap and I don't have the biggest performance requirments. There might be some people interested in how well that RAM overclocks on this board, so if you ever do that you should post your results here.

Hey, i work at a local computer shop. I build a bunch of new systems and have access to parts to make sure it works. A fellow employee purchased this board with a cheap 4300 to tie him over after some system troubles on his old rig. So here's how it went!

-E4300, Oc'd to 3.0 (333), 3.2 was reached pretty easily - we got capped around there.
-Mushkin XP2 6400 with the (i think) 2.4 SPD setting in the bios.
With the system bus speed we could use the memory multiplier to supply stock timings at 4-4-3-10 with amazing stability. We used an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

This was effectively a cheap system, with great RAM hitting 3.0 overclock. We couldn't figure out if the board was able to use the EPP profile or how, we had to set things to manual and force the right multiplier with the perfect bus. Otherwise the system ran on the non performance SPD profile. timings of 5-5-5-15, with automatic adjustments while overclocking. We could sure as hell OC the RAM, but it wasn't very effective, as to keep stable the auto settings were used and timings are raised high to make you dislike it. Manual settings were tiresome as well, we couldn't really get it right. The settings didn't seem to improve stability when you tinker with them, and generally annoying having this board restart on you 3 times in a row, sometimes 5 trying to recover itself.

I'm sure different RAM would be a different experience. We could hit 3.2+ but had a hard time convincing ourselves if it was worth it. The CPU liked 1.425V, we could have brought it much lower and still be fine.

I think you need to do a little more self-education while you are continuing to work in your "computer repair shop." The EPP profiles in memory are specific to nVidia chipsets and don't work with Intel chipset motherboards.

DDR2 DIMMs with Enhanced Performance Profiles has been around since last year and widely adopted by the gamers and over-clock enthusiasts. EPP was a collaborative memory development effort by nVidia and Corsair Memory to allow users to easily expose the advanced memory configuration settings for higher levels of system performance.

I didn't expect EPP to work. Lets make that clear. I think your concerns over my education, and ability at my workplace aren't well justified.
