interesting. has anyone had any experience with this card. I'm guessing it should run fine at stock speeds but won't offer much OCing b/c of the cooler?

It's going to be interesting to see the testing... GB says that at "normal" loads it runs 30% cooler than a stock heatsink/fan solution. Supposedly that's because of the natural convection pulls cool air in from outside the case directly across the heatsinks - which at first thought seems to have some logic to it. How much? We'll see. I think it's a definite improvement over ASUS which had to use that monster heatsink on the 6600GT to go fanless.

I might finally be upgrading... These are somewhat reasonable ($180 - $185) and SLI-able. Looks like an upgrade path for me... I want quiet. Since I don't overclock anyway, this should work fine for me!

I briedly had the 6600GT version of this Gigabyte, which looked like it had the same cooler on it. It ran hotter than a stock 6600GT. On the other hand, the 7600GT has a wimpy stock cooler so it's believable that this runs cooler.

btw that Gigabyte 6600GT was DOA, got RMA'd, never used it

My 9600XT's fan has started making noises, tapping it works OK so far but it won't last long. Was wondering what a good modern QUIET card was theses days, and I think I just found it.

Now there's the PCI issue but I've been looking for a reason to get a new board
