Good question. I had always assumed that the revision number would be easy to spot on the motherboard. But I looked at some review photos for the GA-965P-DS3 (rev 1.0) (all that I could find with a quick google) and nothing screamed "Revision 1.0" that I could see.

EDIT: Apparently I just didn't know where to look. After stumbling around the Gigabyte website for a while I eventually tripped over the following FAQ. (I should have realized there must be a FAQ about this. Duh!)

Q:2234 When searching for products some of the models may have different revisions, how do I distinguish between the different revisions of the same model?
A:2234 The version or revision numbers are printed on the PCB on all range of GIGABYTE's Motherboard. Users can find the corresponding "REV: 1.0" on the top left corner of the Motherboard (Please check reference chart). When user wishes to update either bios or driver please make sure the correct driver or bios is selected to correspond to your Revision of motherboard.

I'm not sure about the GA965GDS3, but the Gigabyte GA965PDS3 has only one version I could find on the website. Hope this helps.

Also it says rev 3.3 on the one corner of the board. The box also says 1333FSB on it. Other than that i'm not sure how you could tell.

Here are links to the three different revisions listed on Gigabyte's web site.

GA-965P-DS3 (rev 1.0)
GA-965P-DS3 (rev 2.0)
GA-965P-DS3 (rev 3.3)

BTW, the only difference that I have found so far in the content of these three different links is in the BIOS listings. Am I missing something?

The rev 1.0 has no version info on top of box
The rev. 2.0 has "Generation 2.0" in big letters in center of box top
The rev. 3.0 has 1333MHZ in image on left top box.

Board was supposed to be out "end of Jan." - so only 2 wks late - not bad.

FWIW - many here bought the P965G from Newegg by mistake when the board was in short supply - onboard Intel graphics. Be careful.

I ordered one of the new GA-965P-DS3 Rev 3.3 boards from Clubit when I noticed there was an additional fan header on the back of the motherboard.

E-mailed ClubIT if their DQ6 was Rev 3.3 and they responded..

"Yes, the current versions that we've been getting are revision 3.3. We have don't have a guarantee for new shipments from our vendors but we are currently selling Rev 3.3."

I also included an E6300 with my order, and theres a new L2 stepping for that chip, wonder if I'll get the latest with that item also.
Come to think of it, I guess i would have had a better chance with OEM and new stepping. Hmmmm.

I'm betting with the AT effect, all their boards are gone within a day or two - once the first person confirms.

Clubit did ship a V 3.3 DS3
They also sent a week 49 L2 stepping SL9TA E6300 - the latest I've ever seen
Clubit is the fastest trouble free order I've ever had - even beating the "old Newegg"
And they have very late stock/inventory.
Highly recommended.

yep. My ds3 arrived today. Its 3.3. I wish Id checked the CPU week, the box says it was packed 1/23. Between the free shipping on the cpu (222 shipped )and lower price on the mobo after shipping the egg smoked Club it. 3 day shipping I might add, and same day processing.

I was wondering if the mobo on ClubIT is a revision 3.3 mobo. After look at the picture, I am sure this is a revision 3.3 mobo. On the box, it prints GA-965P-DS3 rev 3.3. Also, the inductor and capacitor surrounding the CPU socket are different then the revision 1.0 mobo. The new design will be able to support Quad core CPUs with more juice. Nice mobo to have for future 1333 MHz CPUs and great over clock capability.

FWIW I dont think theres a snowballs chance in hell that these "1333 support" mobo will ever successfully run the new 333 cpu's

Well, that did it for me. Just placed my order. I first started looking for a Core 2 Duo system back on Oct 23 of 2006 with the words ... now totally ridiculous in hindsight ... "I don't want to spend much beyond $300". Ah, what a fool, what a maroon I was. What an ignoranimous!

Feels strange to finally. after four months of dillying and dallying, commit to something.

The sale price is nice, but what made me pull the trigger on this was that ClubIT actually commits to the rev 3.3 version number in the product description. Nothing ticks me off more about newegg.com than the fact that just have "take your chances" about what version of the board you're going to get when you order from them.

I decided pay the extra $25 or so and go with the DS3 over the S3 partially because of the solid caps. (Hey! I have as much right to be gullible and get sucked in by marketing promises as the next guy!) But it was also because when I compared the S3 and DS3 BIOS updates and revisions, it seems that Gigabyte focuses more attention on the DS3. And I definitely want attention! Keep those updates rolling at me!

Next big purchase: an E4300 and some 2GB of DDR2-800 memory.
