Gigabyte P35-DS3R Overclocking Issue

Alright, so I updated my BIOS with their @BIOS program. I rebooted, and after I ensured it was stable at my previous overclock, I then started toying with further overclocking to see if stability was enhanced with this release. Well, that wasn't the case. So, it automatically adjusted the numbers because of a failed bootup.

Now, I cannot overclock. No matter what I set things at in the BIOS it reverts back to stock speeds. I tried overclocking with EasyTune, but I can't. The overclock button which lets me access those features is faded and cannot be pressed. What is this all about? It's like the motherboard said "no more overclocking." I'm going to see if I can use the CIA feature for now.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I guess I don't have to have it. However, I have no floppy drive. How can to go back to an old BIOS without one? Will burning the stuff to a CD work? Can that BIOS update program make use of the DVD-RAM drive?

Not sure about using a dvd drive. The @BIOS utility lets you install from Windows.

Can you install older BIOS versions?

Also, I haven't tried resetting the CMOS. I guess I'll give that a go next. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I wouldn't use the @BIOS. I've heard it's better to use the built-in program (Q-Flash) which will work with a USB flash drive. You just copy the desired BIOS file (older or newer) to the drive, and press End and/or F8 upon bootup to get to the utility. It will say it's a hard drive but that's normal. Try clearing CMOS before and after flashing.

Did you press Ctrl+F1 when in the BIOS to enable the hidden memory settings? Press them when you're on the main menu or otherwise not on the M.I.T. page.

Yes you can flash an older BIOS. I only ever flashed a BIOS from Windows once & it filled me with more dread than usual. If you have a flash drive, use QFlash as previous poster's suggest.

I guess I'lll get a flash drive for that purpose.

The good news is that I flashed the older F4 BIOS (Using @BIOS) and everything is peachy again.

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
