Directly from Gigabyte's motherboard listing:

P35-DQ6
P35-DS4
P35-DS3P
P35-DS3R
P35-DS3
P35-S3
---
P35T-DQ6
P35T-DS4
P35C-DS3R

"T" represents DDR3 RAM slots. "C" is short for "Combination" as the "C" DS3R is identical except it offers 4 DDR2 slots, and 2 DDR3 slots on the same board, for a total of 6 slots. So in effect the non-"C" DS3R does not have the 2 extra DDR3 slots.

DS3, DS3R, and S3 boards only offer a single PCIe 16x slot and no firewire. All of the other boards offer firewire and 2 PCIe 16x slots in a 16x+4x config including the DQ6. Another big difference is that there are three types of chipset coolers used, with only the DQ6 and DS4 offering the full "heatpipe towers" cooling. The DS3P offers a cutdown version minus southbridge+VREG heatpiping, and the DS3R comes in with just a smaller but still massive block of extruded aluminum.

All these boards come with solid ferrite core capacitors (except the basic "S3"), support 1333FSB, QuadCore processors, and offer future 45nm Penryn support.

Currently in stock @ ClubIT:

P35-DQ6 $240
P35-DS3P $174
P35-DS3R $133
P35C-DS3R $156

VR-Zone has a review of the P35-DS3R here: http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4966 They reached 575FSB with a X6800. Good way to make a great first impression!

Two boards expected around the end of July to early August:

X38-DQ6
X38T-DQ6

575 is pretty crazy..the question is, does it have Cold Boot issues like the P965-DS3?

thanks for the summary!

I really hope all the P35 boards are such crazy overclockers. with the type of extensive (yet passive) cooling these NB/SBs have it looks like they were made for it.

go go E4400 @ 500x10! :Q

Would you please define what a Cold Boot issue is, because from what I know of it I've never once had that issue with my own Rev 1 DS3. The only time it could not auto-recover at POST was when I set the RAM timings to absurdly tight timings.

Howdy Borealis, yer welcome! I did neglect to mention the cheaper you go down the hierarchy the cheaper the NB cooling heatsink becomes though... the DS4 and DQ6 seem to share the same "heatpipe towers" version, while the DS3P has a cutdown version, and the DS3R versions have a cheap, large extruded aluminum heatsink. Of course things likes ports will differ between them but overall they are remarkably similar.

I think I may go with a P35C-DS3R if I decide to upgrade. Having the DDR3 slots will legthen the life span of the board.

It seems like ClubIt raised the price on it. When the board was availabe a couple of days ago, it came up as $169.99, but now it is $189.99.

Last I looked the mATX version (DS2R I think it is) was getting 430fsb stable. When a mATX mobo gets over 350 stable thats pretty darn good.

I posted my thoughts and experiences there. It may or may not be an issue with these boards, I would hazard a guess of a "yes" though unless Gigabyte changed the RAM PLL or some other options to avoid it this time. I am not sure if the native 1067MHz RAM chips just being produced to run at the official 1.8v are still D9's, but I would say likely not. Those might be the RAM to get with these boards, otherwise I'd suggest Corsair 6400 and 6400c4 kits of RAM.

hmmm if you want D9 chips i wouldn't get the Corsair 6400C4 kit. Only v1.1,1.2,1.3 are the Micron D9's, the rest are Promos and epilida.

I just got this board and plan on using the mushkin xp2-8500... I hope there aren't issues.

One question I have is that what kind of cooler will fit in the P35-DQ6? I highly doubt my Ninja will.

Anyone get a GA-P35C-DS3R?

Can't wait to hear reviews

By the way are Asus, and Gigabyte the only ones coming out with a P35 for now?

THANKS

I believe MSI has one in the works. ASUS is usually the first to get the new mobos out. They tend to rush faster than anyone else. Often they need a couple BIOS updates to get them stable though. Get it out now and fix it later mentality. They do have good BIOS support though.

I've never been a Asus fan, and they didn't make a single PCI-E model either, like GEE we all need dual video cards.

Yes I know, if you don't need it then don't use it. I believe it's not good to support this type of thinking in design, all it does is push the hype more for this high-end.

It's getting to the point you can barely find a single PCI-E board...

I would guess the major retailers will start selling them after the supposed NDA of the 21st has come.

Now I wonder if the P35C will really be worth getting for the DDR3 option. I am figuring by the time it is useful enough to have DDR3 it may be upgrade time again... Opinions?
Also the fact that a board that fancy doesn't have firewire just completely makes no sense. I honestly have never had to use it, just that it isn't included is surprising to me... Your thoughts?

One last thing, sheerly from opinion does anyone think that not having the giant elaborate cooling solution will really effect the overclocking of the board (not thinking OC'ing to end limits, but moderate levels, minimal voltage modifications)
Side note that may effect OC'ing I read the DQ6 is 12 phase, where the DS3 is 6 phase.

Oh so after the 21st we should see them?

Well for me I only want this board for gaming, so I don't need much of anything fancy, just a nice stable/fast board will do.

For me I think the DDR3 option is nice, as long as the board can hold it's own by the time DDR3 is looking good. But Corsair already has DDR3 out in the UK for sale, so it's not going to be long, for me, along with the 45nm support, it means one less board hopefully to not need to buy in one year.

Here's to hoping.

Alright I read a little more into that.

"Our retail P5K-Deluxe board was purchased recently even though an embargo is supposedly in place until June 4th for distribution of P35 product" (anandtech).

So maybe have to wait a bit more to see them at all the retailers, but hey it is nice you can buy them now!

Boy surprised no one has bought any of these yet?

Then again, I guess everyone is waiting for NewEgg to get them in, hehe

This is the board I'm waiting to purchase myself. I skipped over the entire socket 775 and ddr2 upgrade until the last price drop on the C2Ds. I went with the Asrock hybrid board to use my ddr1 and agp card. Well, the enthusist bug bit me again, so I bought an 8800 GTS and some ddr2 ram. Now I'm itching to overclock more than the Asrock allows, so this board has my interest atm mainly because of the ddr3 support.

I heard they are already availble. Asia got them first supposedly. I know the GA G33M-DS2R (mATX) is already availble in Europe but not in the USA yet. A couple people already have them and are posting about it.

I stopped pushing at 450FSB, have returned the loaner since.

G for integrated gragics? Those do not overclock half as well as well as a board without the IGP on it. 450FSB is rather high for one of those...

Nice overclock MacClipper... but your RAM is the problem there. It's overclocked to 920mhz @ 4-4-4-8... If not already done so notch the voltage on it +1 and set it at 5-5-5-15 if you want to see if it can go higher. You'll need 1067mhz capable RAM to OC higher still. It got me to 534FSB on a Rev 1 DS3 with only +1 on the MCH and some extra juice for the CPU.

MacClipper I'm not looking to overclock, so overall how did you feel about the board?

Also I was thinking that I might just go with the GA-P35-DS3R and stay away from the other, hoping that the need for DDR3 slots isn't needed just yet...
