Yes I have the 1.0 version.

I agree that Gigabyte makes quality boards. My son and I recently built two Gigabyte systems. This one (P35-DQ6) and a 680i DQ6. Both worked without a single problem. No BSOD screens ever. Completely stable. No problems with any of the components either.

You mentioned that you first loaded the Windows updates and were about to load the video drivers. You loaded the chipset drivers after Windows right?

My boot screen that you asked about stays on the monitor for almost 5 seconds. What seems to delay it is the configuring of the HD and optical drives.

I have not yet loaded the stuff from the Gigabyte CD that came with the MB. The windows update just happened by itself right after windows got installed. I only have done the RAID drivers using F6 during boot. Actually, I don't think they call out F6 any more with VISTA, instead there is a point early in the install where you get a screen asking about loading drivers. It used to be a screen that pointed out to press F6 if you needed to load drivers. Since I'm using RAID again on this new system, I had to load the RAID drivers since VISTA does not have them. This is my second system using Core 2 Duo, the first is an E6600 system, it runs RAID 1 with two 320 gig drives, this new system is a E6850, it runs RAID 1 with two 500 gig drives. RAID 1 provides fault tolerance but a full backup is in order also because if the system gets screwed up, both drives are screwed up.

The reason I asked about the chipset drivers is because, I've always been told to load the chipset drivers first after installing Windows. Other drivers like video should be after the chipset drivers.

I did as you say, loaded the stuff from the Gigabyte CD. Just the chipset stuff. There are new chipset drivers from Intel that I have to install yet.

I don't see the new drivers for the 1.0 version on the Gigabyte site. It says "Coming soon".

There are new drivers posted for the revision 1.1 DQ6, but not the 1.0 version. The link for the revision 1.1 board is:

I thought I posted this question in this topic, but I guess it was a new topic. Would still appreciate some help from people here.

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=29&threadid=2100744

I have the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P board with one WD Raptor 74GB that I plan to use for OS/System disk, and two WD 750GB drives that I plan to use in a RAID-1 array.
Question is, how to set this up. I read somewhere that the ICH9R is better/faster for RAID than the Gigabyte one, so it seems I should use that for RAID. However that leaves me with the Gigabyte controller in SATA/IDE ACHI mode for my system disk. I've also read somewhere that having IDE enable on the SATA controller (which it appears I can't disable on the Gigabyte controller), will disable certain functions of SATA, making it slower.
Alternatively, I can install the system disk on the ICH9R and run it in ACHI mode only with all IDE disabled. That leaves me with the Gigabyte controller for RAID.
Any advice?

The Gigabyte controller can be set for (IDE) PATA mode or AHCI mode. I would probably use the Intel controller for the OS and optical drives in AHCI mode, and the Gigabyte controller for RAID.

Care to offer some reasoning for that?

I am sure most folks saw the dailytech article regarding excessive EMI
which pinpoints the GA-P35-DS3 as an example. Did Gigabyte correct this in
a newer revision and were other variants out of spec as well such as the DS3P?

At least one other variant, the DS3R, is going to be out of spec. The DS3 (which is uncommon) is just the DS3R using the ICH9 instead of the ICH9R. The DS3L is using the same PCB as the DS3, but it doesn't have the same JMicron controller, it's probably out of spec but it may not be. I believe all of the other boards use different layouts, so it's impossible to say if they're out of spec or not.

I have the same board with an E6750. Even in power saving mode (where it's typically running at 2 Ghz versus 2.67 Ghz) my nb (temp1 on SpeedFan) hovers in the 54C range (which SpeedFan thinks is high), though all my other temps are good (cores are ~21-23).

I've never had stability problems (once I disabled my $200 Creative X-Fi, piece of crap)

Not much, just what I'd be inclined to do. That way I could just add another drive (for Blu-ray Disc or eSATA, for example) to the available controllers on the Intel controller. I'd wonder if there would be issues mixing RAID and AHCI drives on the same controller (if it can be done at all), so by using the Gigabyte controller with its two slots filled that wouldn't be a potential problem.

Hi!
I recently bought a GA-P35-DQ6(rev 1.0) to go along with my Q6600. But when I hooked everything up all I get is some few spins on the CPU fan and then it restarts with one beep from the speaker. It keeps doing this or as long as I have the power cord plugged into the PSU. I've already tried: Switching ram positions, changing PSU, fiddling with the cpu-fan, checking the connections. And now I'm all out of ideas, anyone got any new ones?

Sounds like DOA. I just updated the bios on my DS3L using Gigabyte's @bios and got the same thing. Had to RMA the damn thing with ClubIt and they're supposed to send it out today.

BTW first post- hey everyone!

I think your the guys to answer my questions?

I'm building a new Gigabyte system (e6750, X1950pro)

don't need raid, no SLI, 1 H/D & 1 optical drive, 4gb ram & I may have a try at a slight overclock in the near future
(with help from you lot, obviously ;O)

Q1: Is the DS3L the right board to go for?
Q2: Any body recommend 4 gb ram that is stable & has no issues with this board, just looking for something that will cause less hassle when building.

i'm in the uk & this is my place of purchase:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products...=Memory&Thumbnails=yes

cheers
Oh & 1 more thing I'll be using Xp for a while then upgrading to Vista

Yeah. Tried with a different CPU and then everything started working. So I guess that means that my CPU is dead?

Glad you found out what was wrong. It always seems that people are ready to blame the mobo all the time. More often than not, it seems to be other things a lot.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the P35-DS3 Rev 1 and 2? How can I tell which I am getting?
Also, does the board being out of spec mean anything for a normal consumer? Will it affect the wireless router I have near the case?

I see some problems are still prevalent with this board... should I cancel my order and get an Asus instead?

Has anyone seen this problem with a P35-S3L after a cold boot (this is not like the other cold boot problems reported -- my system is not even overclocked)?

Occasionally when cold booting, the system momentarily powers on the power LED, HDD, optical drive and fans, and then powers down after a second. The process repeats itself after about 3 seconds: Power, HDD, Optical LEDs and fans power on for a second, then all power off. Repeat until I cut power.

The system will recover if I remove/reinstall a memory stick. Then, when I power up, everything is fine.

I am concerned that, one of these days, it won't POST at all.

Any ideas? Is this my mobo, or my power supply?

GA-P35-S3L
SEASONIC|SS-430GB 430W
INTEL|C2D E6750
2X1GB Corsair pc8500
GeForce 7600 GS 512MB

running at stock speeds, not overclocked.

Any advice appreciated!
Thanks

If it is like some of the other variants, the backplane will have extra USB ports instead of
the legacy parallel and serial ports.

Does anyone know of any places still selling the GA-P35-DQ6? I know the board is discontinued due to the X38 version. But from what I've read, P35 is better with DDR2, while the X38 really shines with DDR3. Trying to see if its still possible to find a P35-DQ6.

With regards to the system in my sig (GA-P35C-DS3R)...

Does this sound like an MB issue?

A few weeks ago I had an issue with my video; there was not any. I tried everything and nothing helped. I was getting ready to RMA the board and removed it. I had the whole thing apart and then figured I would test it with the board out of the system. It worked. SO.. I put it back in the case and it still worked.

Over the next few days later I upgraded 2 sticks of RAM to match my Mushkins, replaced a hard drive, installed FEAR and a few other bits of software. One day I start getting BSODs, I can not pinpoint exactly when, I set the BIOS back to stock speeds (without any help) then the video started cutting out again, reinstalled drivers, removed programs, removed ram, etc, etc, etc.. The video output randomly returned, I switched out video cards & memory - without any change.....

The BSOD dumps do not yeild consistant results; it appears to be an IRQ conflict, but nothing shows up in device manager.

I removed the RAID and, on a new hard drive, reinstalled the OS (xp x64).

1. Installed windows

2. Added net card drivers

3. Added wireless drivers

4. Added chipset drivers -- which worked at first, showed as USB 2.0, but after a re-boot the SB ports came up with a yellow flag in the device manager and did not work. Once I rolled each USB device driver back they returned, but as 1.1 ports... uggggggggggg

5. Tried to install on board sound drivers, failed looking for updated HD drivers

6. Tried to install SP2, BSOD started AGAIN!

7. Rolled back system to step 2.

8. Tried to install SP2, BSODs almost instantly.

Any Ideas??

Hi Folks,

I've got a problem i can't seem to figure out. I've been regularly overclocking by setting my fsb to 400 to get a 3.6 gig clock on my e6850, and then setting it back to 333 when i'm done fooling around. All overclocking has been done thru the bios.

Today i went to do this but no change occured when i entered 400 in the bios. It stayed at the stock 3.0 ghz. For giggles i dropped the multiplier to 8 and it did change to 2.6 ghz.

I'm using the f6 bios. I see there are some settings for different strapings. They are listed on the right hand side of the bios when i highlight one of the spd controlers. Maybe i changed these by accident. They are listed like this:

~->800
+->1066
#->1333

I'm not sure what these do or how i might have changed them, its just a guess. Obviously i'm new to this stuff. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Is that all? There's no performance/stability difference?
I see that the GB site only has drivers for rev 1, are they compatible with 2?

So, would you guys say you're satisfied with the board in general or would you go for a different one given an option?
