Gigabyte P67A - UD3. Can't find any compatible RAM???

I'm looking to build a new system for a 2500k, and for right now, my budget is limited to 2x2gb of ram. The mobo I'm getting is a

GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD3 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128460

but when I go to the product web page ( http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3651#ov ) the list of supported RAM is very disappointing. I can't find a single supported RAM in my price range. I'm looking for 2 sticks of 2gb RAM for <$50. I was going to go with:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145251
CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 - 49.99 (39.99 with MIR)

but that is not on the "supported ram list". then I found this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231275
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 - 46.99

But that's not on the supported ram list either. Then I started looking up all the RAM that IS on the list, and basically none of it falls into the price range I want. Those are both 1.5v kits, so can I buy them and assume the supported ram list is out of date, or do I really have to find something that is on that list?

Memory is dirt cheap these days... What's your problem?

my problem is that the supported memory listed on the motherboard product web page is not dirt cheap. i thought that was clear from the first post.

Get 2x4gb or 4x2gb of 1333mhz CL9 1.5v RAM..... Was that so hard?

Umm, yes. 8gb kits are out of my price range. I need a 4gb kit as mentioned in the first post.

1. Click on the Corsair link you posted in your first post.

2. Click add to cart.

3. Check out.

4. Was that so hard?

*sigh* all of the 2x2gb kits that are in my price range are not listed on the supported memory list for the motherboard. did you read the first post? you don't have to insult my intelligence. just provide some assistance if you can.

my question was

DOES IT MATTER THAT THIS KIT IS NOT ON THE SUPPORTED RAM LIST.

you sort of answered the question, but nobody else seems to understand it.

How about you read my post?

The Corsair ram will work just fine. I don't care if it's on the list of "supported" memory for your motherboard or not. I'm TELLING you it will work fine.

How is that not providing assistance by telling you it will work fine?

There is no visible benefit of cl8 or cl7 vs cl9 just get a $40 set of 1333 cl9 from gskill

do the other timing numbers offer any noticeable improvements? the $40 g.skill ram has 9-9-9-24, whereas the $46 g.skill ram has 8-8-8-24. I don't mind paying the extra $6, and I like the cooler looking heatspreaders (silly reason I suppose). I just want to make sure that the $46 g.skill ram will work with my mobo even though it's not on the supported list. I gather that it will based on the (somewhat negative) responses I've gotten so far.

the support list is always limited, stick with major brands and you will be fine. especialy Gskill. lots of boards support it

- Heatspreaders will keep the memory cooler.
- Don't bother overclocking memory. Intead just buy something higher than 1333 (like 1600), set it in the BIOS and be done.
- Forget about the supported memory list, it's worthless. (DDR3 at 1.5v is what you need).
- Stick with Cas9, virtually no improvements going lower.
- 1333 is the max supported speed, course you can go higher but again the difference is very small. You'd be better off with 8GB at 1333 than 4GB at 1600.

What's your budget for memory?

Gigabyte said:
Memory modules listed below are for reference only. Due to massive memory models on the market, we can only verify some of them

The memory kits on Gigabyte's web site are just the ones that they've tested, not an exhaustive list of all kits that will work. Anything that meets the JEDEC DDR3 standards (i.e. pretty much anything you can buy from a reputable brand) will work.

My budget is anything under $50. So, basically, you're saying that there is no reason to get

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (46.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231275

over

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) (39.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231253

performance wise, those should be exactly the same?

No, the CAS 8 kit will be ever so slightly faster. Not $7 faster IMHO, but it's your money.

this is basically what i wanted to know. i probably should have realized it on my own, but thanks.

ok. i guess i will pass on the fancy looking heat spreaders for the better value. tis good advice
