I seem so be having issues, and would like help narrowing it down.
My setup,
C2D E6600
Gigagbyte P965 DS3
XFX 7950GT Passive Cooler
OCZ OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 EL Platinum XTC Edition Rev. 2
Enermax Noisetaker 600w (18a on the PCI-E rail)
Seagate 320GB Sata II HD
Now what the problem is, when booting up during the 1st splash screen there are vertical lines across the screen. It then goes away for the next couple screens and then works fine until the Windows Splash screen and it comes back, then disappears when windows starts.
I figured it was the video card so I used PC-Check to test the video ram and sure enough it failed. I reset the mobo bios to fail safe settings and tried again, to the same result.
I pulled the card out and tried it on a different motherboard, ran PC-Check again and it passed.
I also ran it on an Intel DG965WH board with no apparent problems, running games and regular apps for the last month.
I also ran with an ATI X850XT on the Gigabyte board for 3 months with no problems, granted I had not ran any real tests on it, just played games with no problems. I will test with that card later tonight.
So my question is, does this sound like something is wrong with the PCI-E slot on the gigabyte board? And if so when I RMA it what should I mention is the problem. I feel if I just say the PCI-E slot they may not understand.
Any help would be appreciated, I really do not want to RMA it, so if someone has a solution for me I will try that. But if the board is toast then I guess I have no choice.
