I've had a lot of issues with the UD3P and resuming from S3 sleep when overclocking. I hope Gigabyte releases a BIOS update to fix the S3 problem like they did with the UD3R.

Damn, sorry you guys are having problems with the UD3P.. I've heard this board is finiky with anything over 4gb? I'm running my G.skill @ DDR2 942 1:1 with the 2.00b multiplier and 333 strap 24/7 with no problems.. Looks like it's will only be 2 sticks of ram for me as long as i own this board..

i think you need to put that ram in another board and see if it can still do those clocks. the ram just might be degrading never know or it could be the board. and what bios are you on. i say test that ram on an other board that you have dont just come to hasty conclusions.

EDIT: http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...d.php?t=205132&page=61
check that second post on page 61.

Whell...I just picked up the R version, and with a c2d, it runs like a champ...buy my chip has stuck sensors, and since it's not much snappier then my old 6750, I just ordered a 9550 Quad...hopefully this wll add some life.

Anyway, I think the R model is great! Much more stable then my old IP35-E.

So far I love the R, but I have a question --- I can't seem to turn my drives off in the BIOS.

On my old PC, if I set the BIOS to "none" for a drive, then it was like it wasn't there, which is what I wanted for times when I was trying something out and I only wanted one of my drives to be visible to the software.

On the UD3R, the basic CMOS menu lets you set a drive to "none," but it doesn't seem to matter, Windows still sees it.

Anybody know how I can turn the drives off?

I run stuff in a case...it's a PITA for me to switch back to another mobo just to test RAM that i already know is fine.

I've already said things are fine with 4 GB.

It's only when i switch to 8 GB that the board turns into an impossible situation @ high FSBs.

I tried running with 4 GB for a while, & i don't like it.

I want my 8 GB, so i'm likely going to be getting a Q9650 & going back to the P5Q-D.

And i hate to say, but i have read the entire thread @ XS.
Yes, every single post.
And nearly all the posts in the OCN thread on this board.

None of the settings in the many templates & screenshots in those threads have worked stably for me at higher FSBs w/ 8 GB.

n7...

You have been very helpful to me in the past responding to my information requests in various threads. I don't know, but it sounds like you just got a "lemon" MB...

BTW, if you remember me....the guy who "blew-up" his Asus P5B-D w/ a bad OC....well, the RMA'd MB was replaced by Asus for me (still under W). The MB they sent me is the Rev 1.04g. The one I had was a 1.03g. It came in a bag w/no cables, screws, etc...so does that possibly mean it's a re-conditioned MB rather than a new one?

Honestly, I'm surprised but appreciative of what they did for me. So, within next 2-3 days I will re-assemble my rig, and hope that my other components are ok, and that it was only the MB that got cooked. Some folks at other forums think my ddr2-800 Corsair mem(4x1gig all slots used) might have hurt my original OC...and suggest to get faster ddr2...
