Gigabyte Z68/2500k: Integrated graphics not present?

I got a Gigabyte Z68 UD4 board a while ago. All was well until I decided to try QuickSync through my discrete graphics card by virtualizing the Intel HD integrated graphics through the discrete card -- which was a much-anticipated Z68 benefit.

I can't seem to get my computer to pick up the integrated graphics processor though, which is necessary to run the QuickSync software. I've been through the BIOS settings and can't find any mention of integrated graphics.

After googling around extensively I'm beginning to think this board doesn't let you use Intel's integrated graphics AT ALL. I knew going in that the board didn't have graphics ports, but since the Z68 is supposed to be able to utilize integrated graphics for purposes other than connecting a monitor, I figured the board would still let me do that.

Was I wrong? I can't believe Gigabyte would do this. I'm about ready to toss this thing out the window if that's the case.

This has been mentioned in other threads about Gigabytes's crazy decision to not put the required ports to enable the IGP feature on the Z68 chipset. I still see it as a stupid cost-saving decision as they basically put the Z68 chipset on previously designed P67 motherboards and called it a day.

Very bad. Total wastage of money. Someone please make a list of such horrendous mobos where one or more "crucial" features are missing and share with everybody.

some have it some dont
the lower end does, the perf ones dont
If you knew going in it didnt have ports - how was it supposed to have IGP?

IGP is on the processor, and the Z68 is capable of utilizing it through a discrete graphics card's ports. That's what's unique about the Z68, and one reason it was so anticipated. On this chipset, just because there are no graphics ports on the board doesn't mean the integrated graphics can't be utilized.

That's right this particular board can't, but that has nothing to do with the lack of onboard graphics ports, as you suggested. Gigabyte chose not to take advantage of this unique capability of the Z68 chipset, which is very disappointing.

Is that true for all GB's Z68 boards because I just grabbed a D2H that has the DVI, VGA and HMDI display ports on it. Total waste, then? Maybe I should just return it and get something else?

No, You're ok that one has video ports so it can use the SB graphics.

Are there any other manufacturers who've done this bone headed decision? I need to get the asus pro z68 board that anandtech reviewed. That's how you build a z68 mobo.
