Gotta say I now regret going through the rebate with New Rochelle... here's a copy of the fax I jsut sent them:
To Whom It May Concern:
This fax is in regards to rebate ID number 10370721, a $40 rebate for a Gigafast Wireless PCMCIA Card. The purchase was valid and all documents were mailed as requested. The rebate was refused for the supposed reason of "not sending in the packing slip." I spoke with a number of representatives (apparently I am now flagged, which means I don't get to discuss the rebate logically with anyone, the details of how to refuse my rebate seem to appear on screen for the operator) who have not been able to give me a reasonable explanation.
I spoke with a representative named Jodi who was unwilling or unable to give me her last name or a way that I could reach her again. She first said that if I would send in a fax of the order confirmation that would suffice. When I said "OK, where should I send it" suddenly Jodi started explaining why that would not be sufficient. I have attached said order confirmation to this fax as well. As you will note, it states very clearly at the top, "This is your receipt." As the rebate form also clearly states to send in "a copy of your sales receipt," I feel quite confused as to why my rebate is being refused. I assume that it is in your company's interests to pay valid requests and deny invalid ones, not to randomly pick out requests to deny and then make up a reason. I have never been told anything as crazy as what I was told by your representatives thus far, that when you purchase an item online "the packing slip is the rebate."
Jodi was kind enough to tell me that this is because the packing slip contains information about my order that you need. I then asked her exactly what information she needed from the packing slip, but she would not tell me. I listed all the information that was found on the receipt that I had in front of me, and still she refused to tell me what information I was missing from that. The receipt contains the following information:
· "This is your receipt"
· The order number
· The date of the order
· The billing and shipping information
· The product name and SKU
· The total price paid for the order and for each item
Is this not enough? The rebate form specifies when date that the rebate must be mailed in by, and the rebate was mailed in well before that time.
I have included in this fax an enlarged copy of the rebate form which I submitted, which confirms the above information. Please look at the rebate form and look at what I have submitted and give me a fair judgement. No reasonable person can be expected to read "send in your receipt" and know that it really means "send in your packing slip."
Thanks,
Cameron Jones
