</a> FAR at PC Club.

The rebate form isn't showing yet; but you can find it here.

Rebate is for $45 and is good for purchases 11/15 - 12/31.

I'm off to tell every relative I've ever known to go buy one of these....

Just a warning that these type of USB wireless adapters have TERRIBLE range. Figure about the same as a Bluetooth adaper.

Yep...not the best; but for FREE, it will do.

I get consistent connections across my house, which is all I really need. I can't keep a PCAnywhere session going, though, which is a bummer. When that becomes anything like a priority, though, I'll fork over the cash for better.

Actually, nothing here will probably ever be FAR because of tax paid.

However, minus tax, this is FAR since they have a store here in Phoenix as well as many other cities. Time to make friends with someone in a city that has their B&M....

I got this a few months back. Can I get a new one and still get the rebate?
While not perfect I found the range to be quite sufficient for my purpose and it's great for desktops

I bought one of these. They changed to a ZyTel chipset. Latest Windows drivers are on the CD, even newer than on the website. For non-windows drivers, you are out of luck.

I just got the rebate check for the PCMCIA one from a few months back. You won't get ripped.

USB version or PCMCIA version? Hmmmm, can't decide. Is USB gonna be slower since most laptops have only USB 1.1 ports?

The USB version should be okay, since this is only 802.11b, max speed 11mbps. Real world max throughput is around 5mbps. USB 1.1 max is 12 mbps, so USB is okay. The only thing I noticed about the USB version is that it seems to use more CPU power. I use the USB version on the desktop, and notice it eats up about 12% CPU when transfering, but then that's true about all USB devices as it uses CPU for processing. USB has the convience of being used on the desktop/laptop, where as the PC Card one needs a laptop.

Has anyone gotten rebate status on this USB adapter? I've gotten my previous Gigafast rebates on the 8-port switch, but this USB adapter hasn't shown up yet on the rebate site, and it's been about 3 weeks since mailing.

GigaFast rebate status

Just saw mine show up on the status web site. Mailed it Oct 22nd; so they're taking their sweet time.

nice, ima get one for my new computer which needs to be put into the network LAN

edit: btw, i dont quite see which one on the form it's suppose to be, but i' assume it's the WF741-UIC (11Mbps Wirelss USB Adapter) because that's the only $45 rebate

is that the one i should check when i send in the rebate?

thanks in advance to anybody that could answer that question.

edit(2): I get a different picture of the item when i type in WF741-UIC in google to search for an image of it, it doesnt look like the one on pc club, can somebody verify for me that this link is for the wireless usb adapter with the $45 rebate making it FAR. the site does have the rebate form on it but i dont see the model # or anything like that matching, in fact i dont even see the USB adapter displayed on the link to have a model #

once again, any help would be appreciated

what are the chances of getting a good signal with this thing if my router is upstairs and the adapter would be in the corner of my room under my desk?

I got one but it will lock up after about 20-30 minutes of being plugged in at 11Mbps on my laptop
and hacked iopener; it seems to get pretty warm. If I set the speed to 5.5Mbps it works for much longer,
I have never had it lock up but it will still warm up. My rebate is showing as "processing" on the tracking
site, so I won't be too upset if I get my money.

post an autocad of the layout

seriously though it depends on what kind of floors you have (thickness, material) and what router you have, as well as what other electronics (2.4ghz) are around, etc.
