Tiger Direct has network stuff on sale. One that caught my eye was this one: Gigafast EZ800-S 8 Port 10/100 Palm-Sized Switch
for $29.99 - $15.00 rebate. They also have a 5 port for $19.99 - $10.00 rebate. Ordered it this morning and it's already shipped.

For me 2 with shipping is about $70 - $30 in rebates = $40 + tax (the tax on $70).

In the end this comes out to the same price as the Best Buy Netgear deal. However if you can't get in on the Best Buy deal then this is just as good.

Hmmm... apart from the fact that this is Tiger, and I ended up on their email list without ever having anything to do with them, I actually do need a 10/100/1000 switch/hub.

Any ideas?

Go to Best Buy B&M instead. They have the NetGear FS608 (8-port) and FS605 (5-port) 10/100 switches on sale/clearance for $19.99 and $9.99 after MIR respectively. Picked up the FS608 last night. Pay sales tax instead of shipping and get a name brand instead of a no-name GigaFast(?).

Actually Gigafast isn't a no name. They actually make decent networking equipment in line with SMC, Netgear and DLink. Read the reviews that are out there on their products. They have some pretty high scores.

Gigafast is indeed not a no name company. However they are generally not a retail company.

D-Link, SMC, Netgear, Linksys are generally found in most major retailers (Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA...)

Gigafast is generally found at mail order places which handle corporate accounts (Tiger Direct, PC Mall, Microcenter...)

I have it (bought from newegg). NIce switch for sure. nicer then the smc or dlinks. tested with netiq for thruput and it was fine.

ping all machines on my lan in 1ms.
Also nice ports on back and leds in front unlike smc.
