Trying to establish a nice alcohol collection for a liquor cabinet and the focus this week is Gin. I'm finishing up a bottle of Hendricks gin that I am greatly enjoying. I never liked Gin much until I tried Bombay Sapphire and that was in a martini with only the slightest hint of vermouth. I later tried Hendricks in a gimlet with roses lime juice and its one of my favorite drinks. Any other Gin drinkers here? Ive tried Tanqueray 10 which was pretty decent.

I'm not a big gin fan. I usually get Bombay Sapphire, and it works for my couple times per year gin and tonic fix. I like the taste fine, and bottle's very attractive :^D

I do want to try Hendricks sometime. That has a nice looking bottle too, and the flavor profile sounds interesting.

IMO
Bombay Saph > Beefeater > Tanq

i love Gin and pretty much only buy Bombay Saph now, im sure there is something out there that is "better" but bombay costs enough as it is. Liking beefeater over tanq is all personal pref, ive just never really liked tanq for some reason

ive never tried Hendricks

Its the gin that got me into drinking gin and made me give a second consideration to other gins. I like it and the price is not half bad.

I don't mean regular tanqueray, they make a higher end called tanqueray ten which is a pretty decent gin

If you like Bombay, you can save a ton of money at Duty Free stores. I think I paid $20 for the large size a few years ago, about half of what it costs in liquor stores here in NY.

yea most booze is expensive as hell in NY because of taxes. I normally just stock up when i go through NH, no tax and its super cheap. Most things are super cheap there however the markdown on Vodka is not nearly as much as some others

I'm also a huge gin fan and Sapphire is my choice.

Hendricks is also good, but pricey. I find that Sapphire has a less 'flowery' taste than Hendricks.

When I went through my gin phase Beefeater was usually my choice. I don't think sapphire was available then. For something cheaper, try Gordon's.

I happen to think cheap gin tastes just fine. It's so strongly flavored that the base spirit doesn't really come through. For me at least, spending extra on something like Beefeater tasted no better than a plastic handle of Aristocrat Gin.

Bombay Saphire is the only Gin I've ever tried... Took a shot or two, then gave it to my drunk/alcoholic friend because it tasted worse than vermouth. I'm so over alcohol - bring on the intravenous drugs.

I second this. Hendrick's and tonics with a slice or three of cucumber are very good drinks. If a bar/restaurant doesn't have Hendrick's, I will go with either Tanqueray 10 or Sapphire.

My favorite go-to is Tanqueray Ten

Honorable mentions:
Ransom Old Tom Gin (aged in whiskey barrels)
Hendricks

yeah, Hendricks is good. Currently I have a bottle of that plus a dry gin from a local microdistillery. Our normal London dry gin is Beefeater, but finished that up recently and haven't felt the need to replace it yet.

Ransom Old Tom is good too but it's a different style.

Used to love Sapphire, but kinda got tired of Gin in general. However, we have a local company that makes some pretty good products. I had their gin and really liked it for being a bit less overpowering on the botanicals.

Also like their whiskeys, but I've been leaning towards local products as I get high quality for lower price.

It was a regular martini made with white vermouth, but only a small amount maybe a teaspoon. Vermouth I feel takes over the flavor of a martini, hence the small amount that I use. It was more of an example to illustrate the better quality of bombay sapphire gin whereas before I was drinking martinis made with regular gin like beefeater or tanq.

If you mean the gimlet, it is hendricks gin mixed with Roses brand lime juice. Believe the ratio is 3 parts hendricks and 1 part juice
