One thing about Newt, though, is I am sure he has a very large PUD book (Potentially Usefull Dirt) on just about everyone in Congress. That can help protect him against the Obama camp pulling up Newt's own dirt.

When the items were cornerstone of his campaign and the reason he was elected, they are very important. I don't really bash him on the several dozen other promises he broke, just the huge one he personally made a big deal about bashing his opponent over.
True, but I can give him the benefit of the doubt on those and assume that he fully intended to do those things, but Congress and reality interceded. (Which might be just because I didn't want him to do those things anyway.)

Newt probably has a lot of dirt on a lot of people, but I bet Obama can get more on him. Obama's younger, has made fewer deals, and doesn't strike me as the kind to stray. Plus Obama has the Chicago Machine behind him - the Democrats are much better at dirt dealing, and the Chicago crowd are the best of them.

You are certainly right about the Chicago crowd. I am just banking on Newt having dirt on a bunch of high ranking dems who will reign in Obama...but then again, Obama has already shown he will readily throw his own party under the bus if it means personal gain for himself.

Newt can't beat Obama but Romney might. In the end I suspect the power brokers will select Romney.

Let me warn you Romney supporters.
Obama vs Romney...?
Romney won't even know what hit him.
KA-BOOM!
Bye bye rich guy.

God.. if it only could turn out to be Obama vs Romney.
What a treat!!!! (for Obama supporters)

Obama would not have to hardly raise one finger.
Just bring out the Romney vs Teddy Kennedy tapes.
Game over. Done. EOJ.
OMG... If it could only truly be Romney vs Obama. WOW!

PS. Just a little teaser reminder:
Romney vs Teddy 1994 senate race, Romney was ahead in the polls.
In the end??? The actual vote???
Romney "LOST" to Teddy by.... ready???.... lost by 17 frickin points!
God... if it could actually end up Romney vs Obama....

In the DC debate, at the 33 minute mark, newt gangreench goes into stark detail about how he would pursue a war on Iran. Including "sabotaging" critical infrastructure that would lead to millions of deaths and ignite a wave of retribution amongst thousands of Iranian Americans. Talk about utter madness. This guy is a bigger warmonger than bush and Obama combined. He is a freakin neocon wet dream. Is this why he surges in the polls? Is this country that brain dead? The man is a police state worshipping madman who wants to get his finger on the big red button and he don't give a damn about the millions of lives and jobs he's going to throw away when he presses it. But I just can't believe people are that stupid and suicidal. Oh wait, hell yes I can believe it....

I do not think it is possible to be a bigger warmonger than the combo of Bush and Obama. That is a LOT of warmongering. Not sure Napoleon even reached that level.

Yeah, Napoleon's series of seven separate wars across all of Europe that killed between 3 and 6 million people is probably not equal to Bush and Obama.

Because Obama has no worthwhile accomplishment to run on and it's the only way to deflect from his flaming incompetance.

End of combat operations in Iraq.
Bin Laden dead.
Gulf oil spill capped. Got BP to agree to a huge proactive fund for those affected instead of allowing BP to make everyone crawl through the court systems and fight tooth and nail to receive a nickel of restitution, which would've resulted in billions of the restitution being siphoned off by lawyers as their contingency fees.
Has so far been able to keep the Republicans from totally torpedoing the government.
Freedom flourishing throughout the world.
American credibility restored.
American auto industry saved.
End of Don't Ask Don't Tell.

And I haven't even been paying attention.

I agree. Gingrich will eat Obama's lunch in a debate. I am looking forward to it myself.

wow - you really do believe that?

Gingrich is everything that the TOP has been attacking for the most of a year....

Ask the House Republicans that were in Baltimore how well it went when they had the President in to speak...

\didn't go so well for them...
\\McCain is twice the man Gingrich could ever wish to be - and Obama destroyed him in their debate....

First of all, it's the economy stupid. If things rebound come 2012, Obama will be soundly reelected no matter who the GOP nominates.

If the economy gets worse or stays where it's at right now, Obama is vulnerable. A lot will depend on how sour the economy is though. Gingrich cannot defeat Obama all by himself. The number one reason why has nothing to do with his politics, he's simply unlikeable to a large demographic of voters (women in particular). His running mate would have to be the polar opposite personality wise to mollify these concerns.

People are completely underestimating Obama's political team. They have a massive war chest and some of the smartest political minds in the nation. Right now they are waiting and letting the GOP candidates tear each other apart, they'll come in for the kill once the nominee is picked.

I would give him the benefit of the doubt, but he acts as if he DID meet his promises. He does not say "I promised to do XYZ, but now that I have all the information, I see that would be a bad decision" or "I wanted to do XYZ, but Congress would not let me".

He either pretends he never made the claim, or pretends he actually filled the promise (Iraq is a prime example there - 18 months was a long time ago).

I know other Presidents did it, and I railed against them for it, too.

I disagree. Obama is a moron without a script. All of the above is your opinion. I do like John McCain however.

Newt is a far better speaker than McCain could ever hope to be. Newt is funny when he talks, has a very fast debate mind, and says what people are thinking.

Not saying he knows more, etc., but since Obama cannot use a teleprompter, Newt would eat him alive. One stumble by Obama and Newt would know his weakness and home in on it...and of course repeatedly mention it during the debate.

The repeated mentioning of a slip up, purely accidental and can happen to anyone, will enrage Obama and cause him to mess up more.

The short of it is that Obama does not know how to deal with someone who will not treat him respectfully.

For my money the whole "President Obama needs a teleprompter" talking point is a canard at best. We're talking about a man who was the Editor in Chief of the Harvard Law Review.

Unarguably President Obama is worlds more talented as an extemporaneous speaker than the latter President Bush, and he won re-election despite unimpressive approval ratings and a highly articulate opponent. The biggest challenge Gingrich is faced with is Gingrich himself - he is reasonably bright but he has used his reasonable degree of intelligence to stake out positions on 180-degree sides of the same issues, again and again. He also has all the innate interpersonal charm of a genital wart.

I still believe Romney will most likely be the GOP nominee, but if Gingrich gets it, Republicans would be wise not to count their debate-winning chickens before they're hatched.

Oh please oh please oh please let Gingrich win. That's what I want for Christmas.

The Gingrich who stole Christmas... lol.

Fuck Gingrich. The guy impeached Clinton while he was cheating on his wife because "he loved his country too much". Also lobbied for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He'll get pwned if he is nominated.

More like who is the GOP version of John Kerry in 2004. Even though half the country hated Bush and I thought for sure ANYONE that ran against him would win, we saw what happened there. Voted for option C.
