I was just wondering the ages I am socially allowed to go after. I am 19.

Its socially okay for a 25 year old to date a 19-20 year old. But its not okay for a 18-19 year old to date a 16 year old. If you're smart, 21 and up.

I am 18 and my GF is 16. I will be 19 before she is 17. This is considered completely socially OK - even normal.

rule of thumb (according to spendthrift) is

1/2 your age + 7 years = minimum dating age

and always round up

so if youre 19 then 17 is the lowest

It was common practice for 20 -22 year old guys to marry 13 and 14 year old girls in the not so distant past, here in America. I don't know why people deem it "evil" and "horrific" now.

The "Till What Age Am I Socially Acceptable To Date?" Formula:

(YOUR AGE) / 2 + 6 = (MINIMUM AGE OF PARTNER)


The number to add after division varies, but it's usually 6 or 8. According to the formula, you can go no lower than 15.5.

Like anyone over 2 years older. It should go by decades, at 10-1year, 20-2years, 30-3years. After that no more. Three years is the cutoff.

I knew a 21 year old guy in college that was dating a 14 year old girl. He got their parents to sign a document allowing them to date and eventually get married.

I think they broke up after he finished out that semester with a .14 GPA.

That's a Romeo and Juliet myth. It was never common. Average (median, I think) age at first marriage has been about 26-27 for men and 24-25 for women for 400 years.

u sure? those averages seem rather high. i think i heard that it was creeping up though.

If you are 16 years old here you can legally have sex with a 70 year if you want. But I just want a date.
