I work as a teacher at a small private school. I was teaching a 4th grade biology course, when I heard a bunch of yelling from down the hallway. I figured that it was just some elementary school kids, but when the yelling persisted, I had to peek my head out. I see a few paramedics carrying out a girl.
I asked around after the class had wrapped up (The Boss told us to keep teaching) and found out that the girl had gotten a C on her mathematics test, and had begun to hyperventilate out of what I found out was sheer nervousness at her parents' reaction.
Now, I know that a lot of these kids are under heavy pressure, but this was just ridiculous.
Now, for the actual point of this thread, do those of you in the workforce think that these kids will be functional members of society? What do you guys think about the parents?
I see this kind of thing (albeit at a smaller scale) every single day, so this really bothers me.
