It really depends on what they mean by "battery acid". They could have just used that term because sulfuric acid doesn't sound as catchy. Sulfuric in "battery acid" concentration would take a bit of time to really get to work, but by the time you feel the burn it's already soaked the clothing and that is all in contact. It wouldn't be pretty.
