I feel like the emphasis of this post is wrong.

The fact that she sped to 107mph for the purposes of taking a snapchat is the first emphasis. The fact that she took a snapchat while in the ambulance is...

I really wonder how this meeting at snapchat HQ took place. They okay'd a filter that shows speed while snapchatting? Who thought this would be a great idea that only encourages safe and responsible use? Somehow their legal team let this one through?

I had to read the article twice to make sure I understood it correctly. First, a major company launches a feature that without a stretch can be seen as encouraging their users to put their own and others lives in danger.

Then, said feature actually creates evidence of a criminal act? And somebody was stupid enough to use it?

I'd take a selfie too, sure i'd love'd to not be in the situation to begin with, but her taking a selfie or not taking a selfie isn't going to change the outcome at that point, the accident had already happened.

Did you even read the article? Her trying to take a selfie is what caused the speeding and accident in the first place. The ambulance selfie is stupid, but not the root of the problem.

Dumb bitch may be lucky to be alive, but the rest of society sure isn't lucky to be left with someone that dumb able to get back on the road.

I read the article, as I said I wouldnt be in that situation to begin with (as in I wouldnt be fucking stupid enough to try using snap chat while driving).

HOWEVER, once you're already in the ambulance AFTER the accident? Fuck it. I'm taking a selfie too, idgaf.

Back in the day idiots like this were eaten by bears, lions, or sharks. Now they nearly kill themselves taking selfies.

I don't understand why people still use Snapchat. The whole point of Snapchat was for the picture to be deleted within 10 seconds. That functionality has failed abysmally.

For the last few weeks it just seems like stupidity is trying to outdo itself. The amount of mind boggling "WHY, WHY, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT???? events I've had to deal with has just been over the top. I've made up a sign and taped it to the back of my door that I can only see when I close it.

"You can't fix stupid."

It's still easier to use that then to take a picture, then start a group message and add who you want, then attach that picture and finally send it. I don't care about the whole temporary picture thing... I only use it because I've yet to see a messenger program work that easily with pictures.

and the original concept was something you understood?
whats the point of putting a photo online for only 10 seconds?

ive never used snapchat but that was my impression as well, that the picture only "existed" for like 10 seconds or some shit. does it now just save to your camera roll or something?

i don't think you put it "online" but rather sent it to a few friends then it was gone after 10 seconds. like a "this message will self destruct" type of text message with a picture included.

According to a report on KTLA News, Christal McGee took the ill-fated selfie while driving on a four-lane highway outside of Atlanta using Snapchat’s ‘Speed’ filter, which shows how fast you are going while taking the picture, a feature that for some reason exists.

"A feature that for some reason exists." LOL, I don't think it's possible to have put that any better. Just idiotic.

So Step 1 was being stupid IMHO, which resulted in a terrible outcome.
And Step 2 was broadcasting it proudly IMHO.

Which leads me to conclude she does not see anything wrong with her actions, because nobody would do that consciously.

How does someone NOT think "it might reflect badly on me to tell the world what I did." I'd like to understand this better.

You can't. Trying to do so would would result in your brain twisting itself into a mobius strip of circular illogical thought that you'll never recover from.

Mnewsham knows but, we probably won't understand any better. I do appreciate folks who publicly identify as the bottom of the food chain though.

exactly. her selfish behavior resulted in a accident that resulted in severe brain damage.

but what urks me is she just does not get it. the 2nd selfie shows she thinks she did nothing wrong. just fucking amazing.

Attempted Murder. 20 Years.

Start handing out sentences to real criminals and people fall in line.

She'll get some sort of Vehicular Battery charge a year suspended and some fines. Get sued by the people who's lives she ruined and claim bankruptcy, which will allow her to start fresh.

Meanwhile Joe Bob is in prison doing 5 years for a bag of pot.
