Girlfriend burnt my tounge!

So I'm zoning out on the computer last night when my girlfriend gives me a cup of hot cocoa. She said, "It's not that hot, so drink it fast."

While staring at the monitor, I took a big gulp of cocoa and experienced that oh so enjoyable stinging sensation of taste buds being cooked. I immediately performed the half-swallow half-spit-it-out trick and shouted a few obscenities. Then I ran to the freezer and sucked on some ice cubes for a while

Now, my question is do I have a right to be upset at her? Obviously she didn't test it and just assumed it wasn't hot (maybe because it wasn't steaming?). Or should I only be mad at myself for being stupid enough to chug a hot drink before testing it???

Hmm told you it wasn't hot then encouraged you to drink it fast. Was there a particular reason you had to drink it fast like had somewhere to go? If not i don't understand why she would tell you to drink it fast. Sounds like she is upset with you for something and wanted to get even.

From the sound of it, she didn't mean for you to get burned. She went to all the trouble to make it for you and didn't want you to get stuck drinking cold chocolate. I'd be slightly miffed at her, but I don't think it's a huge deal. She probably feels bad enough.

I'm gonna give the benefit of the doubt and say she said drink it fast meaning before it gets cold.
But I still always blow on and test hot stuff before I slug it down....

Well I think it is REALLY odd that she told you (if this was her exact words?) to drink it fast and that it wasn't hot. But at the same time you can only blaim yourself for not taking a small sip first like most people do when drinking a heated fluid.

Question: Did she look genuinly shocked when you burned the fizzack out of your tongue? I would hope so if she truely thought it was cold.

Note: While it was dumb of you to gulp it down without testing it first, I think it shows an amazing amount of trust in your GF (or you just weren't thinking). I hope she realized the ammount of trust you have in her.
