Girlfriend paid $6000 for a puppy

WWTTFF! i hope it was her money she spent and not yours.

i wouldnt pay for a dog, other than what i paid to rescue one from the animal shelter which was 50, and i even debated that. i can understand why people would pay for a dog. my neighbor paid 400 for a yellow lab(?). great dog and very good looking, so i can see some advantages. i just can spend that much, it goes against my grain.

but 6000? those better be gold turds.

Even a well bred German Shepherd from a quality breeder won't generally cost you more than 4k I don't think (My familiy's first German Shepherd had a father who was rated the 5th best GS in the nation... the puppies were selling for $3500 but we knew the breeder so we got him for $350). Generally, if you go to a pet store it is to get a cheap puppy.

i believe some purebread german sheppards actually cost several grand (i'm not talking from you're local breeder iether).... of course, they come from germany pre-trained -- A good family freind has one of these german shepppards and it is a remarkable dog (it is a police bomb sniffing dog)

About 7 years ago I spent $800 on my dog. She is a purebred Australian Shepherd with a very, very strong lineage. I thought it was too much to spend too, but I caved in and did it. $6,000.......well, that is just dumb!

I didn't think there was anything in a pet store priced that high. To spend that much on a dog you'd have to buy a purebred with papers straight from a breeder.

Dude, she better be joking. Seriously, my sister has worked at these places and there has never been a dog that sells for more then a grand. No breed. So, I can only hope you misunderstood her, or she is joking. For your sake. $600 yes, $6000 is pretty much impossible.

Unless its some upscale, Beverly hills style Pet Shop that sells dogs that would cost $600 anywhere else

Keep us updated, I seriously hope you get rid of her if she did. Unless your a millionaire, I'd be seriously pissed off.
