Americans can be so crazy, they'll call anything a pansy car. I think the miata's are hot, but a little too small for my taste. I don't know jack about cars so I judge on looks and I'd prefer an RX8. I'm sure you guys will say my credibility is kinda shot when I say I drive an '02 Rav4 right now and I love it.

The motor is a supercharged 1993 Ford 5.0 w/ 30k mile on the short block prior to motor mods and installation. It made 389.2 SAE corrected RWHP on a Dynojet dyno running 6psi at 5200ft altitude. Using a 10% driveline loss number translates this into about 432 Crank HP.

Its a supercharged 302. Yes, it can be that good.

And for the record, I have driven a miata before. I shoehorned myself in it, drove for about half an hour, then shoehorned myself out of it. Being 6'4" does not lend well to driving a Miata.

IT IS AN AUTO-X CAR! The best cars in its class are the Miatas, they dominate (just as the Mini Coopers are doing now).
They handle brilliantly well and they aren't designed as commuter cars to begin with.

They were made to be the Japanese versions of those Elans, MGs, and Triumph roadsters. They are very competitive in amatuer road racing and auto-x'ing. I had a ride in a 1999 Miata at a local Auto-x and it was awesome. I never realized how fast that car was in stock form, and the way it changed direction, it was just phenomenal.

If you goto an auto-x event, the majority of models there will be Miatas.

mAdD INDIAN is correct, the Miata is the vehicle of choice for cone dodgers. It has a reasonably good chassis, is light, has reasonably good front/rear weight distribution (not a perfect 42f/58r), and is cheap to run and fix.
