I'll tell you one thing; I tried to build a HTPC/multimedia computer around a 3750K w/HD4000 graphics and it blew chunks. I ended up with the FX 8350 and it was total satisfaction right out of the box. For general computing, I still love my 2500K.

Sure its a prototype and perhaps we may notice some difference with OEM systems but the silicon is final (NOT and ES), bios and drivers could be updated but don't expect more than -/+ 15% difference in anything. It doesn't matter where AMD aims their chips if market conditions change (just like with the release of the 770 nvidia is forcing amd to drop the price of the 7970 ghz). If the market supplies the consumer with plenty of comparable i3 ULV ivy systems for the same price as an A4 kabini that that's what kabini is competing with.

No your calculations were completely flawed. You must look at complete numbers to compare raw efficiency.

Skyrim is not optimized for intel graphics at all (and note the difference between optimized and highly single threaded).

Pretty much where you would expect it (BF3, WOW performed better relative to trinity compare to skyrim).

I'm picking 1280 x 720 for a reason (its the closest to native res of the systems these chips will ship it).

Why would not you wait expect more than 15% difference from drivers?

They tested a prototype. There was no market. It is nice that they compare kabini A4 to both Pentium and i3 for the sake of completeness, but I will be comparing the A4 to Pentium and the A6 to the i3.

Skyrim is/was one of the games listed in the "optimized for intel" site

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/overclocking/games-optimized-for-intel.html

The game is not listed now explicitly, but if you look to the source code you still can find:
alt="The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*" title="The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*"
You can find the game listed still here (at least today)

http://www.intel.com.au/content/www...hd-graphics/hd-graphics-consumer-general.html

It is typical of some reviews to select games optimized for intel in AMD vs intel comparisons.

Too bad Apple and Club 3D don't believe in AMD's CPU's. :awe:

As said in my signature AMD is competing with both Intel and Nvidia.

Club 3D is a graphics supplier, it is difficult that they had signed an exclusivity contract for CPUs, when they don't sell CPUs.

Apple has moved from Nvidia to AMD. This is a first win move.

Apple was already exploring ways to abandon Intel chips. After Hasfail I wait Apple to accelerate the process.

don't.

they overheat badly. And soon you'll be on newegg looking for cpu coolers.trust me. I used a FX 4100 once and it sucked.

Maybe if you OC with a stock cooler, otherwise the stock AMD coolers are fine. I never had a problem with them.

Intel CPU (and really skyrim was optimized like crap anyway when it was released) maybe but igp? Nope.

GCN drivers are already fairly mature and generally amd doesn't seem to aim that much effort at mobile drivers (enduro took years to fix and still doesn't work completely, hybrid crossfire is a mess).

You can compare to whatever you want but the consumer is going to look at price. Intel can (and did) drop prices on its cpus. The price listed on intel's website is not the price that OEM's pay.

Yes I'm sure Apple will love the the performance/watt of FX  If Apple ever abandons Intel, dont expect it will be for AMD. They would have nothing to gain, and lots to lose.

Your "Hasfail" schtick is just as irritating and dull as people who went on about "Faildozer".

Besides, it was a perfect improvement for Apple. The low power parts got even lower power, and the IGP massively improved. So what if the enthusiast desktop part wasn't great? Apple doesn't care about that.

The first link uses "Geekbench 2.4.2" on Android 4.2.1. The second link uses "Geekbench 2.4.3 Tryout" on Windows 8 Enterprise. You cannot compare scores using two versions. Moreover, Android is a much more lightweight operative system.

Can you give a link to your "1/3 of the power consumption"?

You're right. My mistake.
nVidia's Shield gets 4450 points with 2.4.3.

Let's see AMD Q3 numbers. They will give a nice picture of Haswell impact on AMD market share.

I doubt it will make that much difference, frankly. Intel was already completely dominating AMD in the markets where Haswell helps most- high end, high margin ultraportable devices. AMD's market share is mostly propped up by cheap laptops based on Brazos, which just got a very nice refresh in the form of Jaguar. It's Valleyview/Silvermont which is more likely to impact AMD's market share.

Mobile Trinity is still significant in AMD mix. I expect Trinity to suffer a lot once I3/Pentium Haswell arrive in Q3/Q4.

Apple has constantly moved between Nvidia and AMD over the years, it means nothing.

Apple was already exploring ways to abandon Intel chips. After Hasfail I wait Apple to accelerate the process.

LOL The Apple seeking to abandon Intel nonsense was being peddled by arch-propagandists like The Dancing Queen Chuckles.

You fell for his nonsense and after it still fails to materialise, you double down on this foolish wishful thinking.

Be sure to let us know when it happens.

For heavy photoshop and adobe your probably want the Intel i7s or SB-E/IB-E, if you've got the money. Also, if you're going i7 Extreme then get faster frequency RAM, the CPU will really love it.
