Okay, thanks for the info. Do you know when the 171p will hit stores? It's at Samsung's site as a "New Product" so I'm assuming it is out...where...I do not know (not at buy.com or amazon).

It should be hitting retailers sometime next week.
You could probably call Samsung to find out for sure though.

Any other recommendations? $900 is too much...I'll see what kind of deals I can get when it comes out, but I'd like to have some other options.

Thanks.

<< I can't give you any help on what lcd to buy, but I do recomend staying away from Viewsonic. We use them at my school and their colors are completely off and much blurrier than other lcd's I've seen. >>

I have a VG191 that is superior in most respects to my G790. Since I have never had the slightest problem with either I have not had the opportunity to try Viewsonic's service desk. The lcd was a bit blue on the default settings. I haven't played any FPS games at native resolution to comment on ghosting, though RCTW looked fine at low res.. It is way sharper than the crt however, even in analog.

<< What good B&M stores have good return policies? The following B&M places are here: Best Buy, CompUSA, Staples, Office Max, Sam's Club, BJs (another wholesale place...Envision 7100 for only $500), Sears (do they even have LCDs?). That's all I can think of. >>

I'll tell you what, I ended up keeping the Envision 7100. I got it new for an insane price and it looks great. The vertical viewing angles are not perfect. I can see a slight difference in brightness from the top to the bottom. Other than that, it looks very nice. The colors look awesome and the display is very sharp. It has a stated 50ms response time but it blurs/ghosts/afterglows MUCH less than the pv150 which is rated at 25ms. I find that fast action games play very well on the 7100 while I really was dissatisfied with how they looked on the pv150. If you can live with imperfect viewing angles, I would recommend it without reservation. Personally, I think it is sort of silly to pay for a top of the line LCD right now. The technology is still developing and much better advancements are on the way.

The Envision is a nice monitor indeed, I saw it at CompUSA (unfortunately NOT at it's native reso ). However, if I am going to have to keep this monitor for 3 years, I just don't think that the 7100 will cut it.

Holy jeebus! The 171p is listed at some stores now...lowest price is $980! :Q

I'll give it a week or two to see if dell gets them in stock...then I can use a 10% off coupon...it may still be too expensive though! :Q :Q
