Hey all,

Some things I am looking for:

1) Good longevity that will last awhile on my skin

2) for day use around town and work and NOT for a date or clubbing

3) won't cost an arm and a leg because it will be used a lot

4) smell manly and good

I need to compile a list so I can test them all before buying if possible. I will be looking at online reviews as well to narrow down my choices.

Any recommendations?

'Everyday use' means it should be so faint as to only be smelled if someone is VERY close to you, which they shouldn't be in typical everyday non-romantic situations, which means why bother?

Whether the scent is good or bad, no one wants to be able to smell when you enter a room.

Cologne at work needs to be extremely faint because most work places are enclosed and lots of colognes can mess with people's allergies or just plain smell bad.

My top 2 used to be:
1) Angel Men - Thierry Mugler
2) Givenchy Pi

However, I recently bought Carolina Herrera - Ch. It has definitely taken the top spot. Its a woody, humidor esque tone. Highly recommended and extremely affordable, from its description:

Fragrance Notes: Leather, Nutmeg, Bergamot, Grapefruit Peel, Jasmine, Ambergris, Violet, Wood, Burnt Sugar, Vanilla, Moss, Saffron, Mandarin

Cologne at work is a terrible idea - stick to deodorant.

Otherwise I like Givenchy Play & RL Blue.

I use this on a daily basis; very mild, but smells nice for those who are lucky enough to get super close to me.

I don't know how highly regarded Lacoste is, but I like Lacoste Essential for daily use. Perry Ellis Red wears amazing on my skin too. The best part is they are affordable but if price is not a concern, Chanel Egoiste for Winter and Chanel Bleu for all other seasons

There is no such thing as "everyday use" cologne.

Fragrance/ "Cologne" pertains to a certain time of the year. In addition, the strength dictates when/how to use it. You don't splash on barbershop cologne to a formal event. Nor do you toss on common acquatics to one either.

Examples:
1) The oh so commonly used aquatic (Armani Acqua di Gio for example, overused). This is something you wear OUTSIDE in warm weather of Summer.
2) Gourmands - This is something that is much more heavy reserved for winter/fall.

Using fragrance at work is ok if you do it appropriately. If you do it like a douchebag that just sprays the same thing on EVERY...SINGLE...DAY... Then you are clearly someone that has no clue what you are doing and has no idea of any style.

Protip: For anyone that isn't stupid, do you know which of our six senses triggers memories the most? SMELL. What does that mean? When you wear Acqua di Gio or whatever other common fragrance all the time, do you know what every girl is going to remember? Her ex. Enjoy that.

None? There is nothing worse than being forced to smell other people.
At work? I will punch you in the face.

Polo Blue?

Well that's kind of a weird reply...but also I think you may be a wizard...

When I saw your post, I had two thoughts- the one I posted about coworkers and such not wanting to smell you...but also...'if I had to pick something, Polo Blue is my favorite.'

GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

WTF? Besides not overdosing or stinking up the workplace, I never knew there were such restrictions, regulations, and rules for wearing cologne! lol ATOT never disappoints...there's always a "snob" for whatever the topic may be.

I guess I'm clearly someone that has no clue what I am doing and has no idea of any style. I only wear cologne on the few special nights I get out with my wife each year.

I like Hugo a lot. A girlfriend bought a little bottle for me like a decade ago and I loved it but I couldn't find it after that ran out. Amazingly enough my mom got me some as a Christmas present this year. With this stuff available, I haven't even taken a shower since Christmas.

People/ladies seem to like it according to these reviews

There is a proper way to do everything.

Have you worn a black belt with brown shoes? No. Because your shoes better match your belt. OH GOD WHAT A BELT SNOB!!!

These are just general rules, they just aren't rules you commonly hear because the only thing the sales person wants is your $80 in their pocket.
