I have not bought any parts except for the OCZ . Here are more requriments

1. EVGA GTX 590 CLASSIFIED is the Video Card which need a x16 slot
2. OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD which need a x4 slot
3. Ram 16 GB is fine (4 Slots)
4. Intel Core i7 2600K CPU
5. NZXT H2 Classic

The PC is for software development including CUDA based development. The major issue is the OCZ RevDrive does not play well with all MB.

I would suggest getting a Quadro instead of the gtx 590. Also, I feel that the Fractal Define R3 does what the H2 Classic does, but better for the same price.

Well here is a motherboard that fits what you need:

Asrock Extreme6

It has 2 PCI-E slots that when only one is populated is 16x and a third that is 4x

Me too. Since CUDA is mainly used for workstation applications, it's only fitting to get a workstation GPU. You can get a Quadro 4000 for around $700, which is about the same price. Plus, you won't need to deal with SLI.

Also

Asrock Extreme6

What kind of RAM DIMMS can this use to get to 32GB? If it can't use ECC, it's only a 16GB machine for now (Which is more than fine IMHO).

Its all good. Just wish the OP would come out and tell us everything instead of bits and pieces and hints

He got us a lot closer to figuring things out with his last post. It was close enough to help a bit

The NVIDIA Quadro 4000 can only support 2 displays. I need to support 3 - 1920*1200 displays.

Wait for the Z68 motherboards that are coming out in 3 weeks or so, then power 1 display from your integrated graphics. It doesn't make sense to buy a gtx 590 just because you need 3 display support.

Another clue is revealed . . .

Who will win this game of 20 questions?

Perhaps the $100 should be a prize for the first person to guess the rest of the secret set of requirements.

Next up: storage?

Put in an order for the following at NewEgg
PSU ENERMAX EMG700AWT 700W 179.99
MEM 4Gx4|GSKIL F3-17000CL9Q-16GBXLD $369.99
BLU-RAY BURNER LG | WH10LS30 OEM $79.99
CPU COOLER ZALMAN| CNPS9900MAX-B $79.99
MB ASROCK|P67 EXTREME6 (B3) P67 $209.99
CASE NZXT| H2 H2-001-BK $99.99
CPU INTEL|CORE I7 2600K 3.4G 8M $314.99

I got a OCZ RevoDrive X2 240GB , but this is very picky when it comes to MB, hope all works out.

Need to get the Video Card. It has to be NVIDIA since I do CUDA coding and like to have 3 monitor support. From NewEgg it looks like

EVGA 02G-P3-1387-KR GeForce GTX 460 419.99
EVGA GTX 590 CLASSIFIED 729.00

This is a work PC, not going to play games (other then that odd time when I am stressed out)

Thanks for all the input so far

Jay

This is why we tell you to give us the exact needs for this computer. You have just bought a RAM kit that not only overcharges you for a useless fan, but more importantly it is rated at 1.65V, which does not fall under the specs for Sandy Bridge (below 1.5V). It can probably still work, but you are doing it at your own risk.

This RAM kit would have given you the same performance for $200 less, and more importantly, have been compatible with your mobo / cpu. There is absolutely no performance gain from faster RAM except in the most synthetic of benchmarks.

gtx 590 also supports 3 monitors; so there is no point for the 460.

Will send back the RAM and order the new one but I thought to OC you need the hi speed ram

Well, if this is a work PC, I just hope your not paying for this from your own pocket.

I must say though, your build seems ridiculous for a "work" PC. Even from a gaming standpoint, it seems like a blatant waste of money.

And how does the GTX460 even come out to $419.99? Am I missing something here?!

You increase the CPU multiplier to overclock the newer Sandy Bridge CPUs. No need for high speed ram.

PSU ENERMAX EMG700AWT 700W 179.99
Any of these are cheaper and just as good:

$125 ($115 AR) - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139021

$110 ($95 AR) - Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371049

$121 ($101 AR) - XFX Core Edition PRO750W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207015

MEM 4Gx4|GSKIL F3-17000CL9Q-16GBXLD $369.99
I like aphelion02's recommendation.

CPU COOLER ZALMAN| CNPS9900MAX-B $79.99
"The end product fails to achieve parity with even an average 120 mm fan tower cooler. Its price is also high given its performance..."
Source: SPCR.com

Cheap, but still among the best tower heatsinks available:
$29 - Cooler Master Hyper 212+
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...R&tag=at055-20

EVGA 02G-P3-1387-KR GeForce GTX 460 419.99
EVGA GTX 590 CLASSIFIED 729.00
Ah, I see now. I didn't know EVGA made a GTX460 "X2."

I don't understand the point of having both the gtx460x2 and the gtx 590. You don't need both of them to use 3 monitors, just the gtx 590 will do, and I don't even think you can even utilize both cards in SLI.

Edit: For that price I'd go with the Corsair AX750W for $10 more. 7 years of warranty, more power headroom, and probably the absolute best in class PSU right now. The fans don't even spin under no load and are very quiet at high loads.

I am not buying both, I am trying to decide which one I should buy.

I'm still recommending a quadro card + z68 motherboard. No point compromising on performance because of a 3rd monitor, especially for a workstation computer.

Failing that, I recommend the gtx 590.
