I was following www.eVGA.com 's count down expecting there to be preorders on at least one type of fx.... but there was nothing! All they did was list the different models that would be available. What a marketing ploy. www.newegg.com says that they'll be carrying ultras on the 14th of this month but previously they stated that ultras from eVGA would be out on the 7 or 8th AANNND previous to that they said they'd be carrying PNY fxs' which they've taken off their site since. I'm about to take another chance with ati and this time go for there 9700pro (instead of a 9500pro). I'll be running a A7N8X Deluxe with a 2500+ barton, dual Corsair 333Mhz TwinLL 2-2-2-5 DDR and a prometeia rig with the whole lian-li case setup.
If I can vent one thing......nvidia fx ultra benchmarks look like crap when put side by side with ati's. Not that they're horrid...but a product this late to the party and still only able to go neck to neck with what was out 6 months ago is BOGUS! I will say~ Ati....you have driver issues..... but nvidia....you're having worse issues (not getting your product out FAST enough for the consumer #1, and #2 who the hell is going to order a $430 dollar Fx Ultra from new egg when the 9700pro and it are neck to neck in benchmark reports AND the 9700pro is at least 80-130 dollars less! The only person who would spend 80 - 130 dollars more on a card would be one who is paranoid about ati drivers (like myself). But enough's enough...if i'm going to spend 80-130 more on something...then be it a new motherboard that an ati card is very compatible with according to all the benchmarks....but I'll be if I give nvidia my money at this moment. Nvidia needs to officially post a release date on it's site for one.... this whole not setting an official date is doing the following: 1: Exciting some of us for a fairly good period of time 2: Having some of us question what nvidias doing 3: Getting me and probably others POed at nvidias untimely and underpar product considering the time they've had to develope it before releasing it. Anyways, I haven't seen an official release date on nvidia's site but....if someone finds a release date on nvidias site, correct me and post the link with your reply. Stop wasting loyal customers time nvidia....and again, who is going to fork over 80-130 dollars more for your card over a 9700pro unless he or she is a die hard fan of yours or a VERY paranoid driver person. Shoot....if people are using a 9700pro in their rigs it's gotta work for me at one point. Nuff said. Before I go, if anyone has the same motherboard as mentioned above running a 9700 pro.. PLLLEEEAAASE message me and tell me about the rest of your rig. I'm getting ready to switch camps. Thanks all.
