Thereds, I'm pretty sure you can use your GC online at BB; the prompt to enter a GC (or coupon code) usually happens at the end of the transaction-- after you've entered your credit card info, I believe.
If any of you other guys are having trouble ordering sale priced and/or pre-order priced dvds online at BB, you're not alone. I'm not an expert on webpages, but I know for a fact that there's something fishy going on at their site. On numerous occasions when I've put more than one sale-priced or pre-order priced dvd into my basket, I've gotten page errors and been unable to complete my purchase. I don't think it has anything to do with their site being overloaded, more like they're trying to discourage what's distastefully referred to as "cherry picking". I've used multiple open windows on different computers to search for a sale priced dvd like Braveheart or a pre-order like Gladiator and come up with completely different results:
a) If the computer has my usual cookies on it (and not hidden), I'm never able to put more than one sale priced item into my basket, nor am I able to complete a search for another sale priced dvd-- even if I KNOW they have the second dvd in stock and on sale. How do I know this?
b) The second computer, with none of my cookies on it, displays the search results in less than 5 seconds-- the exact same dvd titles that I've been told on the first, cookie-laden computer, are unavailable. (Either they were unavailable on Computer #1, or the page froze during the search, so that my only option was to use the back button and proceed to checkout with my one measly sale-priced dvd. This happened to me on Computer #1 every d@mn time I put Gladiator in my cart and then tried to select X-Men immediately afterwards.)
c) Links from other "deal-oriented" sites never work. Either that, or I've been limited by the one saled-price dvd per customer trick. This occurred on computer #3 which had never been to the BB website, but followed a link from Ben's.
The only way I've found to work around BestBuy's sneaky tactics is to have your cookies folder open while you shop and to delete your cookies every single time you add something to your basket.
