BTW, 14.99 is pretty damn good. I usually wait for Best Buys ads to see if they've got any good deals on new-release DVDs, otherwise I'll place my order on the web before Tuesday to get the pre-release price.

I've kind of been wondering the same thing as PonyBoy25. BestBuy.com says that the item will ship in 1-2 days (while X-Men, due out the same day, doesn't say that). I've got it preordered on Amazon.com and it says for availability "1 on hand." This makes me wonder if maybe the thing has already been distributed to retailers, so some people (like maybe those ordering from BestBuy) are getting it right away. while others (like me with Amazon) for some unknown reason are being forced to wait. Although I can't come up with any good reason why this would be so. Except maybe an overactive imagination.

I received my copy of "Gladiator" from Buy.com on Saturday, 11/18.

I guess e-tailers are allowed to pre-release a movie before the retail release date to cover for difference in mailing time? That's all that I can think of.

It's kind cool though having a copy of "Gladiator" 4 days before anyone else. Then again I wish I had never ordered it because I paid $17.99 less $30 off $150 coupon - less 3% eBates - less free shipping from Buy.com But I probably got somewhat of a discount but $14.99 for this 2 DVD set with free shipping is a HOT DEAL!

Etailers routinely ship 3 days before the "official" street release. Perhaps they are compensating for the shipping delay.

I work @ a video store *2nd job* and we got ours friday, the Gladiator we got had 2 disc 2's and no disc 1 in it that sux for them. Im picking mine up @ BB B&M on tuesday.

Actually, I have the entire movie on my computer....found it through the "scour exchange" before it got shut down....about 1.5GB split between 3 mpg files....good quality/sound.

Despite this, I am still buying the DVD... And all the griping over scour and napster is that it steals sales... BS!

Best Buy was busy when I got there this afternoon in Pasadena...Picked up the GLADIATOR DVD for $14.99 and the X-MEN DVD for $15.99...Excellent deals...Just an FYI - They also had NO ONE LIVES FOREVER on sale for $27.99. Excellent game, IMO...Make sure you guys head on over and take advantage of some these great deals...I'm out...

Best Buy and Target were sold out in my area.. I wound up pricematching at WalMart.. got Gladiator ($14.99), Chicken Run ($15.99), and XMen ($15.99)... Now I have 3 more movies I need to find time for! DVD collecting is extrememly addicting.
