Glass LCDs???

I recently bought a LCD and like it, but I am really paranoid about scuffing the plastic screen. Do they make any LCDs with a glass cover and if not then why?? It seems like a pretty good idea to me. I wish I could buy a glass cover that would clamp on to my display.

Unless you carry around your monitor a lot, why would you scuff the screen? Also, the big advantage LCDs have is portability. Most of the weight of a CRT comes from the glass.

I never move it, I just get paranoid when stuff gets on the screen and I have to use those wet wipes to gently clean it.

The entire picture tube is heavy in a CRT, one sheet of glass ontop of the viewing area of a LCD isn't gonna increase the weight that much.

there are some glass panel LCD's cant lay my finger on them for you right now but they exist

There are LCDs with a glass front, but I think SONY is the only company that makes them, and they are expensive. You can also buy aftermarket "glare-screens" which are designed for LCD's, but those are also way expensive, like $90.

This was the only one I found on NewEgg. I think its a good idea, the weight is still only 9.5 lbs. Don't know why more LCDs aren't made this way.

it's probably less expensive if you just get a wet rag to lightly clean it off, and then lightly dry it...honestly, you seem to be the only one with a problem like this...

I don't either. LCDs are kinda pricey already. A glass front just seems alot more durable for such a investment.

well you arent supposed to use "wet wipes" to clean a LCD monitor. Just a soft cloth.

I bought those pre moist wipes at Best Buy for LCDs and Laptops. I think they are made by Kensington
