Wow, these Brits must be as Moronic as me.

7-19-2006 Ill-equipped Britain endures heat wave

Britain was facing one of its hottest days on record Wednesday ? so hot the pavement melted on the roadways.

The temperature south of London hit 96.6 degrees, the hottest temperature ever recorded in Britain in July.

London's Underground has no air conditioning and the Evening Standard newspaper measured temperatures in the train system at 117 degrees

In Spain, two people died during a heat wave that has seen temperatures climb above 104 degrees.

There was little London officials could do besides tell people to carry a bottle of water.

Andrei Danilov, 32, dutifully cradled mineral water on a central London bus.

"It gets worse and worse every year," he said. "I can't stand it."

The heat failed to dash one of Queen Elizabeth II's annual garden parties. Nearly 8,000 people lined up to enter Buckingham Palace.

"Oh my gosh, it's so hot," said Sonia Read, as she flapped her fan. "I have never seen anything like this."

OMG!!!! To quote one of the greatest men alive "Dee dee dee!!!" You EGWT#Q$$@!%^TGEASFDWEFAWE#%@#^$^@#!!!!!!! Seriously wtf I can't stand this my head hurts! So two people off the streats make some off handed remarks and you use it as support for global warming! I really really really REALLY hope you're just Fing around, otherwise I have finally met the stupidest person on the face of the planet. Please, for the love of all that's holy tell me you're just kidding. I am so sorry for you if this is how you live your life. I can't imagine having an IQ below 80. I don't think I can take this any more...where's the ignore user button....

EDIT: If you are being serious I want to meet you in person so can shake the hand of the stupidest person in all of recorded history.

Wow, ever in recordered history?

Awesome

God must have something special in mind for such a defect in his creation.

To annoy those of us with common sense, logic, and intelligence.

Poor Dutch people, they've apparently been brainwashed by the looney left as well.

7-25-2006 July hottest month in Netherlands in 300 years

AMSTERDAM - July 2006 is on track to be the hottest month in the Netherlands since temperatures were first measured in 1706, the Dutch meteorological institute KNMI said on Tuesday.

"July 2006 is the hottest month ever," it said in a statement.

Dutch temperature records, launched in the beginning of the 18th century, are among the oldest in the world.

KNMI has forecast a clear warming trend in the next 50 years and an increasing number of heatwaves.

Temperatures in the Netherlands rose as high as 36-37 degrees last week, when two people died during a walking event which was later canceled.

fortunately the temp. is expected to go down to 25 celsius over the weekend.

The biggest threat caused by the warm weather (aside from people dying from a heatstroke) are the old peat dykes. As they dry out they become lighter, thus reducing the strengh and increasing the risk of flooding.

I dont think anyone argues that the world isnt getting hotter.

Its why and for how long that is the issue.

Solar activity is also up... Does man control the sun too?

Even worse, what does it matter if we all stop driving cars and using electricity, if china continues with NO POLLUTION LAWS AT ALL.

A repeat of of a documentary recently aired on the Discovery Channel will re-air tonight on the Science Channel. It's called:

Global Warming: All You Need To Know w/ Tom Brokaw

It's a good documentary in my opinion. I know there's a ton of these out there now, but this one, along with Too Hot To Handle are the best ones, imo.

For those who argue that we don't have any long term picture of the global climate, theres a piece in there about the ice cores that does something to explain it, going back 600,000 years.

Worth a watch.

Ahh yes, so because temps are at a 300 year high means that the Earth isn't in any cyclical pattern right? Vostok cores dave. Statistics highlight that the past isn't a perfect predictor of the future. If we are already at a natural peak, as the Vostok cores prove, and they last 10's of thousands of years, then why can't we set another natural record?

Of course, those who bathe themselves in science refuse to acknowledge statistics and other scientific reason.

Dave dave the fearmonger.

What do you want? Why do you keep posting this stuff? What do you want me to do? You keep posting stuff like this, but there is no call to action. We all just read this, then go on with our live and don't care one bit? It's a waste. Seriously, I get nothing out of this thread. Nothing. Does anyone get anything out of this? It's just the same stuff rehashed about 10x over. Who cares?

Dave, add a poll to this thread asking if anyone cares.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I found a list of the record highest temperatures by state. Apparently, 74% of the record temps were before 1940. The latest record was set in 1995. If someone has a more up-to-date listing, I please feel free to share it.

It's funny because generally the concern is for future generations...

I find it hard to just pooh pooh the current state of the environment because I consider that my grandchildren will one day deal with the effects of all the crap we've dumped into it. There certainly is a lot of evidence that the poisons we've created do harm.

To not consider the eventual consequences of our collective actions is what seems abysmally stupid to me.

Not to change the subject, but I find it very peculear that many higher aged people say that they care about the future of the environment because they want a great world for their children and their children; but then when it comes to social security and issues that will really affect their children down the road, then they suddenly don't care anymore. They apparently want a nice clean environment so that their poor children have a cave to squat in. I think that the environment is very important and we should make sure that we don't abuse it, but there are other factors that must be considered and we need to do cost-benefit analysis and get real data before jumping to conclusions.

I've been working on my own analysis of all of this.

There has been claims that the Ozone layer has been restored (reduction of CFC's etc)

Based on the higher levels of UV coming through that clearly has to be false.

We are getting IR blasted like we are under a glass dome.

My experiment has been basic but it tells the story.

Taking readings from a solar battery charger that I bypassed the regulator.

The regulator would keep the output limited to 13.8V

It used to put out a maximum of 14.5V in direct sunlight. Now it's cranking at 14.9V

I'm sure now that I released my preliminary study that it will be duplicated shortly.

At least the Philippines get it.

8-25-2006 Philippines hopes to set tree record

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took part Friday in a massive tree-planting campaign aimed at improving air quality in the Philippines while breaking a world record.

Some 620,000 seedlings were distributed to government and civic groups and nearly a million participants signed up, including members of 4,414 organizations, he said.

"This morning, we planted trees all over the archipelago, the biggest number of trees planted at one time in the history of the world," Arroyo said in a speech after launching the project. "We will probably make it to the Guinness Book of Records for that."

The environment department said a recent study showed the Philippines has the second most polluted air among eight Southeast Asian countries polled, with vehicle emissions accounting for 70 percent of the pollution.

Experts say at least 10 trees are needed to absorb the carbon emissions of a single motor vehicle.

Whacky Scientists at it again.

9-11-2006 Study ties warming to intense hurricanes

WASHINGTON - Most of the increase in ocean temperature that feeds more intense hurricanes is a result of human-induced global warming, says a study that one researcher says "closes the loop" between climate change and powerful storms like Katrina.

The work that we've done kind of closes the loop here," said Tom Wigley of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., a co-author of the paper.

"The important conclusion is that the observed (sea-surface temperature) increases in these hurricane breeding grounds cannot be explained by natural processes alone," said Wigley.

"The best explanation for these changes has to include a large human influence."

9-13-2006 Arctic ice melting rapidly

Arctic sea ice in winter is melting far faster than before, two new NASA studies reported Wednesday, a new and alarming trend that researchers say threatens the ocean's delicate ecosystem.

Scientists point to the sudden and rapid melting as a sure sign of man-made global warming.

11-2-2006 Bush Administration being investigated for muzzling Scientists on Global Warming

WASHINGTON - Two federal agencies are investigating whether the Bush administration tried to block government scientists from speaking freely about global warming and censor their research, a senator said Wednesday.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (news, bio, voting record), D-N.J., said he was informed that the inspectors general for the Commerce Department and NASA had begun "coordinated, sweeping investigations of the Bush administration's censorship and suppression" of federal research into global warming.

"These investigations are critical because the Republicans in Congress have ignored this serious problem," Lautenberg said.

He said the investigations "will uncover internal documents and agency correspondence that may expose widespread misconduct." He added, "Taxpayers do not fund scientific research so the Bush White House can alter it."

If the dems get control in congress, the levee will break, and we'll see just how corrupt this administration was. They've placed their party and their lobbyists before the interests of this country. I hope there is some retribution.

Good for California

Hopefully these greedy inefficient giant Government backed utilities go out of business.

11-22-2006 Calif. cities reject coal-fired power

LOS ANGELES - Southern California is gambling its future power needs on its constant sunshine, wind and the ability of engineers to effectively harness those and other alternative energy sources.

Officials in Pasadena, Anaheim and several other large cities notified the Intermountain Power Agency this week that they would not be renewing their contracts for cheap, coal-fired power.

Those contracts expire in 2027. That leaves the cities two decades to secure the alternative energy sources they'll need, from wind farms to desert solar power.

"It's a huge change," said Mayor Todd Campbell of Burbank, among the cities that decided Tuesday to not renew its contract. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power had already given notice to the Utah-based power agency. Glendale and Riverside also joined the group.

The moves could put the region in the forefront nationally of the commercial use of alternative energy in coming years

CA shoots itself in the foot again? Coal reserves are so deep that we have centuries left, and new coal technologies are making it among the cleanest fuels out there.

Cleaner than Nuclear, Solar and Wind???
Nukes have radioactive waste, solar requires the environmentally-hazardous manufacturing of the panels, and wind kills birds. There is no perfectly clean energy source.

Your black-and-white view on everything is evidence of your lack of intelligence.
