Do you believe that global warming is real now and willing to change so it won't effect you, your children, and grand children? Do you even care?

There are already several threads about this in P&N. No need to start more.

Ok so if all of greenland melted and rose the sea level 20 feet you would not be effected? Even if you don't live on the coast you still will be effected in one way or another. A lot of cities will have to be left forever becasue they will be underwater. London, Miami, etc

See? This is why we need to colonize other planets.

its real, its happening, and i don't care because the human species likely will not be killed off due to how spread out we are across the globe. reason i don't care is because mankind at its current state pretty much deserves it, due to how far removed we are from integration with nature, as every other species is. we are basically large versions of a virus and sadly there are very few things that can keep us in check. thankfully this global warming thing might have its chance, as long as it can bring about an ice age at least.

i think we may just be past the tipping point and just have to wait out the results as well. there really isn't anything we can do, because as long as we allow China to continue to develop and consume large amounts of coal in every new coal plant they bring on-line, then any progress we make in the rest of the world will be meaningless based on estimates of how much China will contribute to the overall global CO2 concentration. nor is there anything we can do to possibly stop CO2 production in the next 20 years due to the vast infrastructure currently in place. it's just not possible. and in the next two decades is probably when everything will be set in stone regarding our future as a species.

my advice? don't worry about it. live life as you do now.
i have no hope left as far as mankind goes. if we succeed to stop it, then we need to change our habits drastically, regarding how we integrate and cooperate with nature. if we can't live in harmony with the planet, then whose to say we can survive that much longer after this attempt by nature to change us?
and if an ice age happens, hopefully the survivors can learn that they need to help mankind change drastically and move towards a new way of life.
we will likely end up being like all those aliens in the movies who move from planet to planet, consuming resources, before we could ever move on and away from having to constantly consume what the planet offers and never restore it.

100% wrong. We are nothing like a virus. If you want to compare, we are similar to ant colonies.

but the famous Agent Smith quote is rather true of our species. think about it and look outward towards the human race, almost as if looking down on it. then stop and think about their behavior.
it's a Rousseau style of thought, and its very true. but the movie didn't make me think about that. i only thought of that quote after you remind me of it. it's something i've kind of felt for awhile now: mankind needs a refresher and start over, in much smaller numbers than currently exist.

ant colonies don't dig up and consume natural resources and never replace what was used. ant colonies don't move into an area, consume everything it has to offer, and move on.

we may not be a virus, but we don't compare to ant colonies. we are our own and nothing can be compared to us, because we are the only species that doesn't live in harmony with nature. even virii live in harmony, because they all have natural progressions. they are population control FOR nature, except so far everything nature throws at us, we develop something to save us from it. medicine is the root of the current problem, because virii and bacterial plagues never wipe us out in large numbers because we develop a cure or vaccine to prevent its further spread.
AIDS and Africa can be seen as an example of nature succeeding, for the moment. it's a harsh thought, but nature can almost be seen as trying to save itself by taking out a large chunk of the population. but we'll develop a cure for AIDS, and nature will be on the thinking wheel again, trying to make something.
yea i realize I am kind of giving nature a soul or a grand purpose, but it's simply the balance of nature. we think we are above, what else can I call it but nature's wheel. we think we are the ones spinning it, or at least watching it spin. what we don't realize is that there will eventually be something out of our hands that will be necessary to keep that wheel spinning naturally. hell, eventually we'll have something to keep us alive even when an asteroid comes into a direct strike path. what then. we continue to live as we do, and are forced to ditch Earth because it can no longer server host.
populations continue to increase and we run out of space (plenty of space left in some countries, but other countries are left in ruins due to extreme populations. China needs a population controlling virus, NOT Africa. maybe the bird flu will finally mutate the rest of the way and start taking control in Asia).

Sure. I'd invent a cheap, plentiful, and non-polluting power source if I knew how and didn't think that the major oil companies of the world would have me assassinated.

Seriously though. I do believe that global warming is indeed occurring, and I think it's not all that preposterous to think that our CO2 production is accelerating it at least. Dunno how much we can do about it at this point given that our industry is and has always been largely powered by some form of Co2 emitting fuel. I'd think that the widespread deforestation that goes on around the world doesn't help either. Oh well...

Well, no time like the present, my friend.
1. Go into your garage (or your parents' garage)
2. Start car that you seem to detest so much
3. Close garage door
4. ?
5. Profit

It's easy to say that stuff about "other" people, but if you beleive it, apply your "insight" to yourself first.

It's real. I'm considering going solar at my home. Maybe in the next few years as the incentives increase and costs come down. I also do not own an SUV and I live close enough to where I work that I can ride my bike to work once or twice a week.
