Just did this last week on a Cad CTS with the sport package. They sent me a letter offering, so I took them up. No credit check, no hassle when I brought it back. The CTS was a nice, tight car, but I am waiting on the CTS-Vtech that comes out late this year with the LS6 motor and six-speed transmission out of the Z06. That might be when I trade my C5 Corvette. Anyway, I'm thinking about doing the H2 this week.

Do you have a choice about when you take it out? I was thinking about taking a H2 to the prom (how sweet would that be)

Yeah, theres a broad difference between 0% for 90 days / 6mo. and 0% for the entire term of the loan. Quite often, people see 0% and just assume, it is 0% forever. What expecially sucks, is if you do no pay it off in the time that the 0% perioid was, i.e. 6 months, the interest is often retroactive, and you end up owing interest for the period the car was interest free. Not too many people that go in for these 0% deals haev the cash to pay off their car in 6mo.

This is basically what any dealership does when you buy a car. When I picked mine up last year the bank was already closed for the night so they just let me take the car home and told me to come back anytime the next day.

OK, given that you have to be 21 to participate in this program you're either:

1) Really dumb and you've been held back quite a few years in school
2) A cradle-robbing 21 year old who dates high schoolers

No prob, that's what I do best.

Seriously, though, you probably shouldn't have your parents get one for you... if you got into any sort of accident (entirely possible if you were to drive a very large vehicle that you're not used to) the dealership would sue them silly.

Nah, I'd go for it! If you got cool parents like you say, call them and have them come say they were driving it. no big deal. -TAL

Actually, the Zero percent is valid but you have to know how to work them --and read the fine print!!!

I got me a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer (Love that SUV) for Zero % APR, Zero Down and Zero payments for 3 months.

You have to first know your credit score. The dealers said that I did not qualify because they ran a credit check and 'apparently' it was lower than what I had checked outside. Then they gave me this BS about how the ratings are different when buying a car..yada yada yada.

I said I know what my credit score is, give me Zero % APR for the life of the loan (5 years=60 months) and he scoffed at me. So I said take it or leave it. He said no. I started walking away and the manager came out and called me back and wanted to deal.

To make a long story short, I went to another dealer (I didn't want to deal with the people in COLMA (SF) after the stunt they pulled) and asked the same deal.

I pretty much walked out of there with my SUV with no money down (they gave me $500 rebate as down payment hahaha) and drove the cars for 3 months with no payments, and zero percent APR for 60 months (5 years)!!!

Ain't this country great?

I picked up a new 2003 Malibu 2 weeks ago .... $12.5k taxes etc included with 4.9% for 60 months. No down payment.

Had a $3k rebate , got GM A Buyer discount of $2k (parents are GM retirees) , GM Card discount $1k , had a $1k bonus certificate , then $500 trade in for my '92 Corsica with a billion miles on it

So was $7.5k off sticker price of $19k. Not a bad deal I don't think. BTW I'm 33 and this is my first "new" car.

I'll take the GTP thanks

The top of the line Pontiac GTP is <30K

The top of the line Infiniti G35 is <36K

The performance of the GTP is very close to the Infiniti and the GTP can be easily and cheaply modded to match/surpass the Infiniti.

Just my 2 cents! Thanks.

The funny thing about this promotion is that the song they play during the commercial has a guy and girl getting busy in the back seat of a car. Then she says "Stop right now! I gotta know right now, do you love me, will you love me forever?" He replies, "Let me sleep on it" and so on...

So, is GM promoting taking the car for a 24 hr test drive and you can get lucky in the back seat?

Great song by Meat Loaf though.

Just how much do you think this would impact a credit score? I have real good credit for a 22-year old and I was seriously contemplating taking a Silverado HD out for a spin (Since I might buy it in the next year or so)

I agree, although I wouldn't consider them fat boats....especially when compared to the SUVs that erroded their marketshare.

They do a "hard pull" or inquiry. If you have pristene credit it won't do much, but if you have other inquiries within a 1-year period then it will lower your score significantly. My otherwise great FICO score was lowered by 75 points because I had 6 inquiries within a year. The banks figure you're probably in the process of aquiring open credit lines, and factor that into your debt potential. After a year they drop off.

Inquiry isn't a big deal. I already got a mortgage, already refi'd to 5.5%, car's paid off.
