Chery is a company, not a car. They are a second-tier car manufacture that produces cars of sub-standard quality, even by Chinese standards. They are also being imported by a company led by Malcolm Bricklin, who has managed to drive his automotive businesses into bankruptcy on 3 separate occasions and is the man responsible for importing the rolling disaster known as the Yugo.

If they can come out with a nicly optioned midsize sedan for $15,000 that doesn't have the build-quality of a Yugo, they might make some small inroads into the market. But I think I'll hold off on the funeral arrangements for now.

mord, thanks for doing the work on the above...I just sent it to my son and his wife who are looking for a vehicle to make the daily commute of about 100 miles RT.

700 miles a week at 30MPG looks like about $60 - probably managable even with a new grandson/grandaughter on the way.
