How did I misunderstand you? Sounds like you think their only way to survive is to be poorer than us. I still haven't heard you give a response to the fact that they can (and are doing it) build up a middle-class economy. For most of its history the US has had an extremely powerful largely domestic economy.
I initially wondered aloud what the end-game to their actions were. Observing that eventually we would be poorer than them, thus no longer a good customer.
I then asked if that was all there is to it, or if once they were richer than us did they intend to take it further. I see them as very long term planners/strategists, thus is there some further objective then merely stealing away our economy and becoming richer than us?
I then remarked that I was of the opinion they were at economic war with us. Note I did not say "competition". What are the typical objectives of war? Gain territory/occupy, colonize, take resources, force regime change, maybe some I'm forgetting. (I suppose one could say they are pretty damned effective at stealing our resources- intellectual property - now.) I.e., are they planning any of these?
If you think they are simply trying to improve their economy with no further objective then my question is is moot from your perspective.
