think large software companies, riaa, mpaa, etc... would subpoena gmail due to their large storage and the gmailfs utility?

Don't you think google would know warez were stored on their servers? Wouldn't they just scan for warez keywords?

I wouldn't doubt that google has a small team that monitors the content of files with certain extensions.

Yeah, it's not like people already split rar's into segments on hundred of newsgroups or anything.

400MB+ movies ? If they take the time to put that into 40 emails, I say let them have it.

If you try to upload a filename with a word like "crack" it'll reject it.

Seeing as how there are gmail checking scripts you can get, I'm sure it's not hard to find (or even code yourself) a script that will send 40 emails out.

It'd be so easy to get a warez site going that way.

Input your gmail addy if you want proggyX when it's released:
Once they crack it, rar it into 10 MB chunks and mass email it out to everyone on the list.
Check your gmail, use your script to download all the attachments to a folder. Voila.

too bad programs and movies are all larger than 1GB now, so there's not much to warez anyways..

Parting a file takes a couple minutes with winrar. And if you forward to people on google it isn't moving mail servers so basically its just hosting it. I'm sure they'll block it somehow.

that's the thing, it doesnt take any time if you use gmailfs (creates a virtual hdd in windows explorer, so technically all you have to do is drag n drop 40 files)

This happend with AOL. A friend of mine would get a bunch of emails through AOL with attachments of whatever he requested. AOL eventually caught on and put a stop to it though.

Yes parting a file is easy, I do it all the time, especially going on the usenet a lot

But all the files aren't going to fit on a single gmail account because 99% of the games and movies out now take up over a gig, even a lot of apps now.
You can probably fit a few small applications, or low quality divx rips.
