Odd - I have it on one of my Gmail accounts (actually the newer of the two) but not the other. It is automatically enabled on the account that has it.

It works on one of my gmail accounts, but still not activated on my newer gmail acocunt. It's great though since I already used Thunderbird for my school's IMAP email.

Anyway to disable the syncing of the spam account? I'm getting upwards of 60 spams a day...

Does it go directly to the spam folder, or does it go to your inbox?

To the spam folder, which is fine... But it shows the # of messages in there so i have to go in and clean it out all the time... I would just prefer it wouldnt sync all of it

Is this a regular mail program? Maybe make a rule that anything going into the spam folder gets marked as read.

Another little tidbit, is if you use a PDA, your email client on the PDA may not support IMAP fully. Versamail(PalmOS) only sees one layer of folders. This means, I can't view mail that has been sorted by a filter into a sub-folder on my T|X. Looking at getting Chatter to fix that problem.

Chattermail does support IMAP folders, and that's what I use, though its implementation is somewhat strange. I personally hope that some company comes out with a better client... but I really doubt that'll ever happen for PalmOS.

What mail client are you using? That's usually fairly easy to tell your client to do. :-\

I was gonna guess something like that.

One of my domains that use Google for E-Mail has IMAP enabled. The annoying part is that it syncs the Spam folder, which is quite annoying when you receive over 10+ per day. I'm using Outlook 2007 currently. I hope Google fixes the spam syncing issue soon.

hint: IMAP wasn't showing up and i was using English (UK) as my language...switching it to "US" (as if it's even recognized as a language) brings it up

Give you an option to not sync the spam folder or something along those lines.

I remember wishing my hotmail had pop3 or imap years ago, but the gmail web interface is so good that I think I'm going to just stick with it.

Does Gmail support all IMAP features?

Gmail IMAP is a fairly complete implementation of IMAP, but the following features are currently unsupported:

* \Answered and \Recent flags on messages.
* Folder subscriptions. All folders are always in the 'Subscribed' list.
* Substring search. All searches are assumed to be words.
* Searching arbitrary headers. Only some headers are available for searches: From/CC/BCC/To/Subject.
* There is no SIEVE interface to Gmail filters.
* Only plain-text LOGIN over SSL tunneled connections are supported.

It will eventually, I guess.

As far as my WM5 phone is concerned I tell it what folders to update and it only updates those = no spam folder issues.
