do you have to open the ports on your firewall
# Click the 'Advanced' tab.
# Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
# Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
# Check the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming mail (POP3).' The port will change to 995.

No there was no wait for me. I got the same error messages untill I noticed the user name setting was wrong. It has to have @Gmail with you user name.

anybody know how i can setup outlook, or another email program to separate each gmail account, instead of lumping everything into 'local folder'? i've got two gmail addresses that i want to use with an email client, but has not been able to separate emails from the two.

I have the same problem on my work machine with Eudora 5.2, although it works fine with Eudora 6 at home.
