In another decade, you or someone very close to you will be killed by GMO and you will be kicking yourself for being so blinded by the corporate propaganda. GMO is like cigarettes and asbestos and HFCS and fluoride and everything else. And in every case, you're always a frickin nutter right up until the point where "everyone" accepts that it was stupid to use these things. And in every case there is an army of paid shills arguing in favor of all these things, yet certain sectors of the population are still woefully unable to see these people for what they are.

Do you ever eat beef or any dairy products? If so, you're consuming genetically modified animals, done by humans for the express purpose of easier consumption.

Cows didn't even exist 20000 years ago, and all living cattle can be genetically traced back to a single stock, someplace around Syria or Turkey IIRC.

Back then man had to hunt the wild Oryx if they wanted a hamburger, a task that was incredibly dangerous and difficult. But the payoff was huge, Oryx were much larger than a cow is today, and incredibly aggressive with enormous horns too.

Some smart yet hamburger loving dude noticed a few of every herd was smaller and tamer than the rest, and rather than killing them they would collect them and place them in a pen. By only breeding those with the traits man desired, the cow of today was created, and only exists due to mans genetically modifications.

GMO shortcuts this process. You didn't think cows evolved naturally, somehow surviving natures harsh rules of natural selection given just how dumb they are?

More carbon dioxide comes from natural occurrences than anything else.

The world will balance itself out just like it did when multiple ice ages and heat waves occurred over the course of earth's history.

The world will balance itself out just like it did when multiple ice ages and heat waves occurred over the course of earth's history.

The earth will no doubt recover from man made influences, the question is then what will and what will not survive the incredibly long process. Long in terms of mans perception of time, short on a geological time table.

I worry about the toll on the ocean the most, a resource that has been abused in many ways since we only see the surface and are blind to the rest.

Ever see what an anchor and its chain do to coral and the seabed? Most never see that, and thus it's out of sight and out of mind as the cliche goes. But everyone goes apeshit over an oil sheen as it is visible.

The ocean is a huge collector of heat energy, as it's dark in color and so much of the earth surface. The various oceanic conveyors help to regulate and disapate IIRC, but so little is known of how these conveyors work. And when something is learned about them, they seem to become more important to climate regulation everytime, not to mention the health of the ocean and it's inhabitants as well.

For example, the upswells along the southern coast of Australia brings tons of food and plankton up, which blue whales know to take advantage of and everything else in between plankton and whales on the food chain.

Part of the Anti-GMO concern isn't about human health concerns, it's about changing the environment. It's about creating insecticide resistant bugs that will only require increasing amounts and varieties of insecticide to keep the crops safe.

It's also about the patents and the amounts charged to grow the GMO plants, and the ip lawsuits brought against farmers.

I personally have enough other things to deal with in my life to care about GMO's. But when what I'm listening to has an activist come on and give their statements, I listen. And if it sounds like they may have legitimate gripes, I remember.

Since GMOs are a monoculture its not a good idea to have the entire food supply reliant on them... yup.

They are genetically identical every year. They can't adapt, and the pests and pathogens are constantly evolving. So its only a matter of time until they are threatened like the Cavendish Banana. Except not just bananas, but as you guys are all cheerleading...everything would be threatened! Like beef, since we feed them GMO corn now, etc. Great job on the groupthink everyone. We have zero ability to survive any actual climate change no matter how much all the armchair scientists love to yap about it.

Darwin Quote:

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."

What about spending millions of dollars to add a single gene implies adaptable. Then using tons of herbicides to keep the one wonder-gene gravy train going. (Round up Ready).

I don't think there are any Round up ready AND drought resistant GMO crops on the market. All you gotta do is look at California getting bent over to know nature is still running the show :awe:.

Reminds me of the cause of the potato famine in Ireland that killed so many and forced much migration.

Everyone planted the lumper potato due to many favorable traits. But when the disease hit that species and turned them into black goo, it was able to spread like wildfire as no resistant species were planted that could have stopped it.

Maybe for a nominal yearly license fee farmers can upgrade to the more disease resistant variety of GMO seed.
