The 140-hp Ecotec four in the ION gets HKS performance exhausts, too.
WTF? A Japanese exhaust on a Saturn? I guess they really are trying to make them like imports

It's obvious that GM's designers have the talent to make great looking cars, yet why do we end up with these POS? IMO, the only good looking cars GM makes are the Vette and the CTS, and a lot of people disagree with me on the CTS. I just can't figure it out.

The CTS looks like sh!t. It's a mess of angles and straight lines and pure chunky fugliness. Compared to something like the A4, 3-Series, or G35, the CTS looks like a overweight promp queen that got her face disfigured when the runner-up smashed the crown into her face.

Why put the Super Sport designation on pickups and SUVs? It just ruins the point.
EDIT: New Cavaliers look awesome
SS Silverados have been around for a while.... I don't know why the article said the SS designation comes from the 60s and 70s. It's been used consistently at least in the 90s (SS Silverado, SS Camaro/Z28)

Tell us how you really feel
Seriously though, the CTS is a car you either love or hate. Everyone universally loves those cars you've mentioned, but if you think the CTS looks good and want something that stands out, it works. My parents are happy with it. Can't beat the price on it though, GM gives great employee discounts (my grandfather worked for GM, so we get somewhere between 10-20% off.)

The original SS moniker (sp?) came from it's use in the 60's. And um, there's never been a Silverado SS until now iirc. There's been a C/K1500 454SS, but Chevy has never used the name Silverado until it's current incarnation. Oh, and they're talking about the moniker for the truck, not the Camaro.

Does anyone remember the 16 cylinder engines ?
A true american icon of the lost era... GM is now a Ohio steel mill worker's wet dream.
I envision a re vamp of Cadillac at least and restore the glory we had some time back.
Make a long wheel based 8 liter 16 cylinder rear wheel ultra luxury caddy and kick Maybach/Rolls/Bentley ass so good they keep those across the atlantic for good.
When will this happen ?

I can't believe that he called those cars "new". All they did was slap some different sheet metal on them. It's completely obvious that they are based on the designs that came out in '95. To anyone who thinks that those are new designs, I've got a 486 in a brand new cool-looking case to sell you.
ZV
Uh, what else constitutes a new model? besides sheetmetal and better drivertrains and updated (while maybe unsatisfactory to some) interiors??
Something that came out originally in '95 can hardly be called new for '03. Hell, it's still using the same interior from '95.
Honda and Toyota TOTALLY redesign their cars every 4 years with a refresh after 2 years.

This is so funny to read, all of you bashing these cars just caus they're made by GM. Personally, I think the thought of a 275 HP Grand Am that looks better and wipes the floor with Honda's competition (Accord - which is several thousand more expensive) scares all of you. That very supercharger is already available although it will not reach production because of a redesign due in '05. Oh ya, in that redesign is a probable 3.6L V6 pushing 255HP w/ AWD and a 6-spd to match it - this info coming from a GM engineer involved directly with the development of the Grand Am. Ya I dont like the cavalier either, but the GXP versions of the GA/GP/Bonny and the new Caddy's are just beautiful.
Tony
uhhh, I don't see pricing information in the links, so how the freak would you know?
Hell, it's not even totally clear which, if any, of these are going to be production cars.

I notice that with the exception of the CTS-V, all of these high powered monsters are front-wheel-drive.
Holy torque steer Batman! :Q
The thought of a FWD 275HP Grand Am is scary.

So the V6 Nissans and Hondas are well liked, but these will be scary?
It is kind of ironic that GM just axed the F-body and does this two model years later. I guess its easier/cheaper for them to rice out than to have a dedicated model? More power to them I guess, except for the vette their entire line was getting pretty anemic. I wonder why no Impala or Monte Carlo package?
Um can you say GTO?
