GMX D-5.1 OR ProMedia v.2-400?

Which is better the Klipsch GMX D-5.1 or the Klipsch ProMedia v.2-400?
I realize the v.400 is only a 4.1, but I will only be using the system for listen to music, I do very little gaming. Also, what sound card do you recomend for this application. By the way, I can get the GMX D-5.1 for $159 and the v.2-400 for $149 if that matters.
I'm new to all this, so sorry if I sound clueless!

I have the GMX, I have heard a few talk them down, but I love em.

The original 4.1's were pretty bad for music, average for movies, and good for games imo. v.2-400 had a poorly implemented crossover network which resulted in poor midrange. The bass is very boomy on this system as well. I haven't heard the GMX so I can't comment on that. I would stay away from the v.2-400 if you were at all concerned about music..

The Klipsch ProMedia v.2-400 speaker system does have a less than stellar crossover which some claim causes a "muddy" mid-range output. I owned the v.2-400s and the 4.1s at the same time and, IMO, the mid-range was simply non-existant on the v.2-400s rather than producing a "muddy" mid-range.

I have never heard the GMX series speaker systems so I cannot comment on those.

i've never heard of the promedia v2-400 but i've heard of the gmx a2.1, which is the 2.1 version of the gmx d5.1 with analog input.I can say they are very well made speakers for music listening and 'lite' gaming, as their output power is a little 'conservative' ?(10watts/sats and 50 for sub).Btw, the gmx d5.1 will accepts ONLY 1 stereo input(with stereo jack), and digital coax/optical,while the v2-400 accepts 2 stereo input(front & rear)stereo jacks.
