I like Pandora, I just do not like how they keep trying to put little annoyances in there to get you to start paying.....
It is notthe concept of paying. After all, they need money. So having ads played is not a biggie, but here are a few things that have been progressively added that kind of subtract from the service:
1. The first time they had ads, it was only ONE ad that would repeat about every 15 minutes. Needless to say I was not "lovin' it"
2. They started that stupid "Are you still there" break. I know that they do not want to waste bandwidth on people that are notthere and are not paying, but most people listen to stuff for more than an hour when it is background music. Also, when you have this playing on your HTPS, you sometimes have things liek Slideshow playing in the foreground. Interrupting thi severy hour is a bit petty.
3. From what I hear from my wife, new installs (YMMV) of the client need to be restarted completely after an "are you there" pause. This might be a glitch, but if it isn't....WTF?
There are other little complaints, like not being able to restart/rewind/FF a song or bump back in the play-list to a song that was already played. Also the fact that 2 thumbs down for a song will get the ARTIST removed from your playlist.... There are songs that even your favorite artists have produced that you do not want to hear anymore.
But I still think it is a good model. I am only dissapointed that they do not offer the free service for web streamers like the slimserver boxes..... Ads or not, free customisable radio is always a plus.....
