Name the race (in NY) and I'll join you. I'd prefer an Oly distance but a Sprint would be fine as well.Originally posted by: Skoorb
5) Place in my age group (30+) in a sprint triathlon
All I've done are sprints. I need to keep my running distances short, which is why I've favored them (I was going to put Olympic tri completion as a goal, but the miles do stress my knee). I am not sure which one this would be, but assuming things go well, I may do the Rochester duathlon in April (I think that's when it is), then there is a pittsford tri (it's a pool swim, but otherwise good) in May and then the various finger lake ones.Originally posted by: Megatomic

There are 5 of them, I want to do at least 4 this year. I'll make a schedule of the local races and PM you with them. Are you interested in an ATH&F meetup at a tri?Originally posted by: Skoorb

By the end of 2009, I'd like to still be on my current weightlifting schedule, or better. I would like to move from lifting twice a week consistently to three times a week consistently. I do it occasionally now, but I want to make it a regular habit. My progress in 2008 can be seen in photos here.
By the end of 2009, I'd like to be able to do these lifts:
[*]Concentration curl: 55#, 10 reps each arm (currently my max is 50# with 8 reps on the left arm and 9 reps on the right arm).
[*]Tricep dumbbell press: 90#, 10 reps (currently my max is 75# with 17 reps, I need to buy weights that go from 80# to 90#).
[*]Dumbbell press: 175#, 10 reps (currently my max is 145#, 19 reps I haven't tried heavier since I don't have the weights).
[*]Squat: 175#, 10 reps (currently my max is 145#, 11 reps).
I have other lifts, but I don't care about them much.
I'd also like to be at about 155# body weight by the end of 2009. Currently I am 152#.
One question: I've always heard that one first goal of weightlifting is to be able to bench your own body weight. Is that 1 rep of your body weight, or a set of 10 or multiple sets of 10 at that weight? I am so close now that I just want a short term goal to reach.

Think it's time for Koing to change it to Goals for 2009.
Anyways, my goals are to start StrongLifts and to get stronger. Now whether that actually happens or not, we'll wait and see.

I'm 5'10", 217 lbs., currently cutting fat. Just got back into exercising in October. I'm currently doing CrossFit as my main workout. I will most likely be adding a Starting Strength variation to my workout schedule this year. These are my goals:
400 lb. deadlift
300+ lb. squat (need to get my form dialed in)
175 lb. shoulder press
20 consecutive pull-ups
185 lb. body weight at 10% body fat
My main goal is to just get healthy and fit. I've never been overall fit in my entire life, so I want to build a good solid base of strength, cardio, and speed over the next 11 months, and get my body to a healthy weight. After I accomplish that, I will focus more on specific strength or sport-specific goals. .
