Much respect for this guy:

Goat Simulator is currently ripe with glitches, particularly with the titular character’s bendy neck getting stuck in objects, but Ibrisagic pledged not to fix most of the problems in time for the game’s purported launch of April 1st (a date he insisted was no prank).

“I’m only fixing crashes,” he said. “Everything else is totally hilarious, so we’re keeping it.”

Bought it on Saturday, and it's great fun

Have had to use the Respawn option regularly though, and even the Restart option. But I think I got all but 2 achievements now.

was watching videos of this yesterday, was pretty funny. not sure I would spend money on it, at least not full price anyway.

Went ahead and picked this up yesterday morning. Its a blast! Something about walking up behind people and head butting them just cracks me up. I hope they expand the map though, its really small once you played for an hour.

I dicked around for about an hour, licking people to death and jumping off of the waterslide. Then I discovered the goat pentragram in the corner of the map and dragged five of my victims into it. I then turned into satangoat, activated my satan powers and then went into ragdoll mode and uncontrollably flew around the map at high speed in every direction. I also set up the UFO beacon, got abducted by aliens and launched into outer space. Have not messed with the jetpack yet.

I'm not familar with the UFO beacon.. where is it? I've done the satanic goat thing, but after it goes away, is there anyway to get it back again? I've done the muscular goat thing by beating up the other goat in the circle. The jetpack sucks. When you turn it on, you always fly into the ground, or at least I do.

Is this game appropriate for a 9 year old? or is it a bit too violent?

I'm not familar with the UFO beacon.. where is it? I've done the satanic goat thing, but after it goes away, is there anyway to get it back again? I've done the muscular goat thing by beating up the other goat in the circle. The jetpack sucks. When you turn it on, you always fly into the ground, or at least I do.

There's the 2 crop circles near eachother, with one already having a beacon. The other beacon is on the workbench near the treadmill.

Note that you'll need respawn to get back to earth, but if you wait a while before doing it you can get the angel achievement. Might need the jetpack for that, although you can't actually move up there. You can make the cosmonaut move towards you though, although you can't even lick him

I'd say it's fine, the humans will drop down but won't die (they will still make noise when you lick them). Even when you put them on fire they'll extinguish a while later and still respond to being licked.
Just view some videos of people playing, that gives you a good idea. For the age of 4 I'd say no, but 9 shouldn't have a problem with this kind of humor.

I haven't actually played it, but I seem to remember a fair amount of profanity in the videos I've seen, so if that's an area of concern for you, that's something to consider.

Yeah, now that I remember, some of the achievements/stunts/combos have profanities in them, in case that sort of thing bothers you. But that's about the extent of it.

I played around with the jet pack last night and you don't have any control whatsoever. You just fly wildly in whatever direction with no apparent rhyme or reason. Best method is to get jumping start, especially if you jump off of a trampoline or something. Also, jetpack + satan mode = absurd.

OMG, just watch the vid on YouTube. I'm 65 and bailed on PC games long ago. I think this may be my re-entry point. What a wonderful diversion to the standard fare out now. Skyrim? Pass. Age of Empires 27? Been there. Goats? Wheeee....

Even the final portion of the dev's description is great:

"Disclaimer: Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat."

A friend bought this for me on the sale because I wanted to try it but didn't want to pay that much.

I just played it now...had more fun watching people play it on youtube. this game sucks.
